    Hello my favorite menu peeps!!!

Happy Saturday. I stuck to my menu again this week. Wasn't happy with all my meals, but that's what happens when you try new recipes all the time. Bound to be some flops in the mix. Oh well.

Spring training started yesterday! My DS sent me a picture of his jersey. An official White Sox jersey with his name on it. So cool! Made me cry.

This weekend is busy! Today my youngest DS has a college baseball game. Tomorrow my middle DS has an adult league baseball game. And then for dinner tomorrow night we're going to a grub club meeting at an Italian restaurant. Looking forward to that.

Here's my menu for the coming week. Share yours!!

Saturday - Excite Me Tonight! Chicken!, Hummus, Falafel, Greek Tzatziki Sauce

    Sunday - Grub Club!!!

Monday - Easy Ham Carbonara, bread and salad

Tuesday - Bulgolgi using a jarred sauce someone gave me. With rice and vegies

Wednesday - Tostadas, rice and salad

Thursday - Charmie's Baked Macaroni and Cheese and ribs from freezer. With vegies.

Friday - to be determined icon_smile.gif

    Hi,

I get it about the flops; but sticking with the same old same old is not really that interesting. I had a less successful experience too b/c I had to leave a soup to simmer and took too long to get back to it. We salvaged dinner but it remains to be seen whether the pot will recover. Oh well -- I wouldn't mind a new one!

Sat – something like Winter Vegetable Curry but will omit potato and probably use greens rather than broccoli, with tortillas (as a poor stand-in for naan)

Sun – Tagine of Chicken, Preserved Lemon, & Olives over millet

Mon – Salmon Soup hopefully with no-knead bread (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/08/dining/081mrex.html?_r=0) or purchased

Tue – burgers from freezer (Mini Chipotle Burgers With Fire Roasted Garlic Catsup) with oven fries and veg

Wed – black bean/spinach quesadillas with veg

    Thu – leftovers from Sun

Fri – something like Mexican Inspired No-Mayo Macaroni and Cheese Salad but a warm version and may add tuna for extra protein

Yep C ... new recipes, there is always a chance. And congrats on DS, pretty COOL! What is a Grub Club? Sounds like fun. I like the Chicken and Tostadas. Always like Mexican food.

Burritos for me this week on Fri. Trying to save for vaca, so really using up stuff I have on hand or trying to re-use everything. Also, got most of the stuff made this week. All my recipes this week will be basically NO recipes, or those which I can do in my sleep; and make them up as I go.
    -------------------------------------------------------
    SAT ...
Potluck w/friends (starting at 2); taking my Chicken Apple Sausage Bites w/crostini (a play on one of my recipes here); and sangria

    SUN ...
Lady #4: Three (3) meals to be delivered Mon am
    - Classic pot roast w/veggies; salad
    - Chicken cordon bleu casserole; broccoli
    - Fish tacos w/fennel papaya slaw; spicy black beans; yellow rice
Me: Company. Steak w/my own steak sauce; grilled balsamic portabellos; creamy baby potatoes; and glazed carrots. They love sweets, so that is up to them.

    MON ...
Lady #1 and #2: Blackened shrimp over cheesy polenta; squash ragu
Me: Sesame chicken w/stir fry veggies (I have a Campbells Seasoning Sauce) to try. I had a coupon, so I figured why not. Served over rice; fruit

    TUES ...
Me: I'm making 2 steaks; so, hoping for leftovers to make an open face steak sandwich with mushrooms; warm potato salad

    WED ...
Lady #1: Pork tenderloin (crock pot) w/mushroom gravy; mashed parsnips and potatoes; green beans
Lady #2: Roasted chicken breasts w/mushroom gravy; mashed celery root and potatoes; green beans with dried cranberries
Me: Meatloaf (freezer stash); corn on the cob; cheesy stuffed bread

    THURS ...
Lady #3: Chicken curry, recipe TBD; rice; fruit
Me: Friends house for b'day (beer, burgers, brats), may not go-ex DH is

    FRI ...
    Ladies #1 and #2: Card/Game Night - TBD
Me and 2 Poker Buddies: Burritos (freezer stash) and chicken tacos with a chipotle ranch sauce; both served w/all the toppings (lettuce, salsa, sour cream, cheese, olives, avocado); corn and black bean salad

Our grub club is run by this area's restaurant critic and also the hosts of the Let's Dine Out radio show (the one I got to be on icon_smile.gif). They select a local restaurant and everyone goes there and eats a large sampling of their menu for a set price.
This time we will be having, all for $25:

    Appetizers:
    Bruschetta
    Calamari Fritti
    Stuffed mushroom
    Salad

    Sides:
    Cous Cous
    Fresh Veggies

    Entrees:
    Gnocchi with Gorgonzola Cream Sauce
    Baked Ziti
Salmon with a Champagne Cream Sauce
    Chicken Marsala
New York Steak with a Mushroom Brown Gravy

    Desserts:
    Tiramisu
    Cannoli

That sounds like fun C. I would love something like that. You get to try a new place; and different food. And that price is NOT bad at all. ENJOY!!!

Thanks for sharing your experiences as I had some flops myself this week and reckon a cook book of flops would be the next best seller too...

    WHOO HOO!

First time EVER baking with organic, totally gluten free ingredients including Frangelico too!

I would LOVE to add this to the database but who "senses" a LOT of the ingredients wouldn't be listed? mmmmmmmm dilemma....the nutritional values not correct or listing a donut that gluten free people can eat

NOTE: DH was dubious but tried each of the ingredients separate ie donut, icing, then donut, icing and cocoa....

Got two thumbs up...GREATLY surprised...the taste is there, the texture is light...the texture is different and I created a unique icing using Naturally Sweet Icing Mix (which the company sent)

    Came out GREAT!

So what to do...in the meantime, enjoy the photo icon_smile.gif

    ditto

I know a girl here who runs an informal supper club...she is single and would not eat out on her own, so she picks a restaurant, then invites all each month...doesn't matter if people are single, married, widowed....everyone gets an opportunity to enjoy food in a non threatening environment...I think it is GREAT!

WISH I had that locally too!
