The era of the Pot Pie has ended! icon_lol.gif

Tonight we will have Crispy Ginger Beef with basmati rice and sugar snap peas. Maybe I'll make a pound cake and have mixed berries on a slice of it for dessert. Whipping cream too of course icon_smile.gif

Making the DH go for take out tonight. I am tired of left overs and seeing the weather coming in again tomorrow (another 8-12 inches of snow!), I'll be stuck cooking for days. He may not like it but oh well.

Here, it's already 5 pm. I did my duty today, and made one of the recipes posted for "Dining on a Dollar" (Contest and Event Forum).

I wanted to photograph it, and I wanted daylight -- it gets hard when it's twilight.

That will warm up easily. I can't say what it is, in case Susie D clobbers me.

And I was overjoyed to find leftovers in the fridge, which DH saved because he ate much later than me last night: mashed potatoes and (South African) stewed green beans.

There are heaps of lovely tomatoes for salad, and fresh basil from the farm garden.

Oh yes, and I bought 2 packs of green asparagus! We love that. All this should do us just fine for dinner tonight. icon_biggrin.gif

Potluck w/friends. They have this huge Cul de Sac party/potluck. They organize it very well. A big tent, rented tomatoes and chairs; they have grills going, fryers; tons of food, the kids play basketball and soccer; and we all bring food. Starts at 2ish. They set up right in the middle of the cul de sac.

Taking a version of my Chicken Apple Sausage bites (posted here); served with crostini. The apples and onions almost become a spread on the crostini; and served with the apple sauce which has cooked in beer and apple cider in the crock is served with a swiss cheese sauce.

Also, sangria. Made it last night. Just got to add some more fruit ... and it is ready.

    I think it got K9, too. icon_lol.gif

Anyway, I want to say, SC, I want to move to Florida and be your neighbor and friend. You always have such interesting things going on. I envy that! My life is dull and humdrum compared to yours. Enjoy my friend, enjoy!!!! icon_biggrin.gif

I don't know! The bottom heating element in my oven burned up on Thursday so I am currently oven-less! icon_sad.gif 3-5 days for the part to get here-once they ship it( they haven't as of now). I think I am going through withdrawals!

Alisa, have you made this before? It ROCKS! So EZ too!

Tonight Chicken Meatball and Tortellini Soup - Tyler Florence (w/o the torts this time) I may add Orzo instead, seems that with 1# of chicken meatballs that's enough stuff in my soup.

O M G icon_eek.gif you have my sympathy! This seems to be my story since October? November? I was w/o stove and oven for a 2-3 weeks. I made everything in an electric skillet. That was as close to camping as I ever want to get! I was about ready to slit my wrists.

More recently 2 burners went out but luckily he had the part on the truck. That N E V E R happens.

    Can you use the broiler?

No I haven't but it sounds yummy. I could probably eat just that and a salad but DH isn't a big fan of meatless meals so I'm doing the chicken thighs and serving the quinoa as a side dish.

I would go nuts if I lost the stovetop too!!!! I bake ALL the time so being without the oven is hard for me! LOL I had quite a few friends offer the use of their ovens as long as I left some of whatever I was baking behind! LOL
I probably could use the broiler. I haven't tried. The flames in the oven kind of scared me! Oh and the oven light is out now too! LOL That went Friday afternoon. Probably from being turned on and off so many times to look at the broken element. It snapped right apart. I should get in there and unscrew the light cover so I remember to get a bulb for it.
