When I as a question of a chef, and get a reply, why don't those activites get recorded in my inbox? I would like to keep track of those, but when I get the e-mail with an answer I cannot seem to go back and find it in any messages I have sent or answers received. Am I missing something? Where can I see a lot of these that is retained on my account. If it does not exist, put it on the long list of "to dos"

The answers to Private Messages have your question appended to them, if you scroll down far enough, unless the person who responded to you deletes that before responding to you. There are tabs in the inbox for Inbox and Sent Messages, and everything should be in there, unless you've hit the max and the system is deleting them.

Or am I not understanding your question? I just checked mine and everything I remember sending or responding to is there.

I am not talking about Messages. I can see the ones SENT or in the INBOX from there. I was talking about I was talking about messages I sent directly from a recipe page using the "Ask a Question" directly. I have finally found a place where those are retained "in the Journal function, but why can't it all appear in messages? Seems like it would be logical to put them all in one sent of Send and received messages.

When you Ask A Question about a recipe, it is referred to the Q&A forum - it is not sent to a person. Private Messages are sent to people. Since you are not asking a person a question when you are using that link, there is no one who has an inbox to receive that message.

The window that opens when you click Ask A Question does show that it is in the Q&A forum. I realize that this is not "in your face" obvious and might be overlooked. Also, the balloon help that pops up when you hover over that link indicates that it will redirect you to the Q&A forum.

Anyway, these are two different functions. Since a lot of chefs are no longer active on this site or visit infrequently, having the question come up in the forum makes it much more likely that it will be answered. It's been like this ever since I joined, over ten years ago.

Ask a Question from a recipe is answered in the Q&A Forum. After your question is answered you can save it to your favorite topics ~ while looking at your answered question in the forum, scroll down til you see Add this to My Favorite Topics ~ then you can find My Favorite Topics again by hovering your cursor over the blue rectangle beside your icon at the top of your screen ~ a box will pop up ~ scroll to the bottom of the box and you'll see My Favorite Topics!

If you fail to save a topic to your My Favorite Topics, then do as Molly suggested!

Big D, instead of using the "Ask a Question" you can opt to just send a private message to the chef who posted it.
Lots of people answer right away, but there are many members who don't come here any more, don't check their messages regularly, or unfortunately, have deceased.
It's worth a try if you aren't in a hurry.
If you are in a hurry, you can ask the question, find the topic, and then add that to your favorite topics.
