how many of us actually eat at our dining tables all the time? Do you? Or do you grab a plate and pop down in front of the tv?

I have to admit that lately it is more in front of the tv than actually sitting at the table. My work has been so hectic lately that it just seems easier. I do miss all of us sitting down together though.

    Hi,
Now that DH and I are empty nesters, we mostly eat at the counter bar in the kitchen. Our kitchen is open to our living room area.
When our youngest daughter is home from college we often will have her older sister and my dad come over for a family meal and then we all eat at our dining room table. I think the dining room table misses us sometimes. Lol. And yes, I miss it too.

Last night was the first time in quite a while that we actually all sat down at the dining table and ate together. It was really nice. My youngest daughter made me "pinky promise" that we would start eating there every night. Wonder how long that will last??? icon_lol.gif

I didn't bother with anything except the dishes we used and I popped a long narrow basket in the center with three candles. Easy and done in about 10 minutes.

We eat at the dining room table every single night. (We do not have an eat in kitchen.) The only time we ever eat in front of the TV is if there is a Super Bowl game or Stanley Cup game.

I enjoy our family time together at meals. It may only last 15 minutes some days but it is still time to catch up with one another.

My DH & I both come from families that ate together every night too so I guess we are creatures of habit. Our kid's friends think it is really neat that we do this, but for us, it is normal and just what we do.

My DH and I also both grew up in families that ate together every night. Somehow, we just got out of the habit of doing it, but we're working on changing that. We've eaten at the table more in the last month than we did in the last several years. I had really forgotten how much fun it is sitting down together and talking about things that happened that day. My children really seem to be enjoying it too.
