I joined about 6 years ago, when we lived in the UK and our families were here in Australia. It was the one way that I could chat especially with the Grandchildren on a regular basis. It was before Skype and phone calls were expensive!

I originally joined about 3 years ago, as 2 of my daughters wanted me to connect with them on Farmtown, but I lost interest in the farm and had planned to leave facebook, but eventually I decided to be apart of the board, connect w/a few people I know, and post recipes to share with others.

Only because my then 14 y/o daughter wanted to join. Now she doesn't use it much so I quit my membership.
I really never got into it. I guess I don't enjoy the narcissistic venue.
Just me and JMHO. I know many people live for it.
I guess there isn't anyone I care to keep in contact with that I already don't have close relationship with.
If I have family members strung out all over the globe, I would reconsider.

Work "strongly" encouraged us all to join if we hadn't already - great marketing tool. Yeah. Right. I did break down and started playing FarmTown and still do enjoy the game. I now use it to chat with clients (I did actually get 3 clients from playing FarmTown), family, friends and fellow foodies. The drama can get intense at times but for me it's easy to just turn it off and walk away. Now I use Skype more than ever to chat with my grand girls across the state.

Mainly to keep in contact with friends and family, post and look at their pictures. I don't accept friend request from people I don't know, only exception is people here I don't "collect" friends like some.
Also, there are old school buddies that I would have probably never would see again if it weren't for FB. I use it mainly for fun, I post of-the-wall stuff to make people laugh or say "What-the..."
One more thing, I have a half sister out there somewhere, she was adopted from my mother at birth and I have never met her, maybe one day she will look me up, I didn't know about her until she was about 9. She is in her 20's by now. I would love more than anything to meet her, she is my sister after all and I am strong into family

I joined when a bunch of people from here started to play Farm Town. There was a slew of us playing at that time. I still play but now use fb to keep up with friends and relatives in England and across the country.

I initially joined to spy on my 2 kids who were at college.
They're no longer at college and I'm actually the one who's on FB all the time now.

I joined in order to track down a very old friend, and I'm glad I got to do that. But then the powers at be inundated me with Facebook requests, etc., and I found that to be an invasion of privacy. After that, several folks "friended" me, and some I didn't even know. I was notified, recently, that three people had "unfriended" me. That ploy was to get me to click on the link to see who it was, but I never bothered.
I have email addresses, and while I'm sure it'd be fun to chat with various folks, I simply don't have time for Facebook.

Yep, me, too.
Then I got "suckered" into planning our HS reunion a few years ago. It exploded from there.
I keep pruning.

It is probably a good thing you didn't click the link, whenever you decline, ignore or un-friend someone, it is kept annonymous, facebook does not alert people of that, the link could have led you to some kind of malware or spyware or virus. Facebook doesn't alert people if you don't accept or un-friend them.
