When a recipe calls for a "box" of powdered sugar, how many oz./cups are in that box? I buy mine in plastic bags!

I think those recipes date from when a box was one pound.

The boxes are one pound each.

1 lb. sifted powdered sugar = 4-3/4 cups

1 lb. unsifted powdered sugar = about 4-1/4 cups
