I'd like to think that knowledge is one of the foremost, best preps one can do in case of an emergency, so when I saw a thing where I could buy some little books on household items you can use for other stuff, I bought them.
I think I was had, because most of the stuff they talk about seems to be general knowledge passed down through generations, but not to me personally, heheh. So maybe not.
Gems within these pages include using mayo and egg and oil on hair for conditioning. killing roaches dead with corn starch or meal, Rubbing out rust on fenders with foil, etc. But knowing this place, I'd wager you folks have ALL the tips and treasures, so let's hear them!!! Lemon juice for hair lightening? Making ice cream in plastic bags? Musty smell removal with baking soda and cinnamon?
What have you got?

That's a cool one, Molly, and I can actually try it out after I type this.
I'm just going to pick out a few here.
*Disclaimer: I haven't tried any of these yet, but I plan to. Take necessary precautions, savvy?
Chlorine made your hair green? Dissolve 8 tablets of aspirin in a glass of water and rub it into your hair. Let it set for 10 minutes then rinse and shampoo. Pretty cool and easy if it works.
Clogged shower head? No need for CLR, just put enough white vinegar in a plastic bag to cover the head, wrap the shower head with it, and keep it there with a rubber band. Leave it overnight, and the mineral deposits should dissolve. I'm going to try this one tonight after a shower. My shower has holes that don't work now or spray some other direction besides down, heheh.
Got an ink stain on carpet? Make a paste out of milk and corn starch. Apply, then let it dry, brush, and vacuum off. Wonder if this works for other stains...
Cool stuff in these.
Got a rust stain on your jeans? Boil water in a kettle. Wet the stained area with lemon juice. Hold it over the steam coming from the kettle. I'm curious about this one. I have jeans with a rust stain on the knee. Will try this eventually.
Got any more, folks?

When life gives you lemons, clean your bathroom.
Simply slice a lemon in half and rub it on any hard water stains and rinse clean.
