I wonder what HR would say if I told them I want to give up work for Lent?

I do give up things for Lent.
This year, it will be Sugar and all Soda, same with Hubby.

MaMere, We gave up ground burger a few weeks ago, not for lent but because of the cost. Boneless chicken thighs and breasts were on sale for $1.99 per # and ground round was over $4.00! I found that you can't tell the difference between the two if I use it for spaghetti sauce, chili, sloppy joes...my red meat eating man isn't even complaining! Our new meat grinder has paid for itself in one week. We'll still indulge in a good grilled rib-eye occasionally.
In my opinion, the sky rocketing price of beef might force us all to eat healthier.

MaMere, girlfriend, you are very disciplined if you can give up sugar AND red meat. I can do one or the other fairly easy, but both! When I was a kid, we use to have teen dances on the weekends. We were not allowed to go to the dances during lent. So many kids that I grew up with had the same restriction, so the town no longer book bands during Lenten season.

I totally understand D~the cost of foods/groceries is skyrocketing at a scary pace. This Spring I AM planting a garden with some veggies (as well as working my Bro's garden to help) and will also plant a raised Herb Garden, ANYTHING to help with the grocery bill (now if we could just figure out how to lower our gasoline bill averages 180-200 per wk, just for Hubby to drive!)

Olive, I was SHOCKED that Hubby suggested the red Meat thing, He loves his cheeseburgers! We eat fairly healthy, but that is a really great thing for him to forego for the season, the really hard one for me...sugar! lol, I love candy!

lol. I know! I don't know where the time went. How did I get this old this fast! Seems like yesterday when I could dance till my 11:30 pm curfew then go home and listen to the raido in my bedroom until it went off the air.

Since hubby and I are Catholic, we don't eat meat on Ash Wednesday, nor do we eat meat on Friday's during Lent.
