Best Shepherds Pie! Has anyone made this? Should it go into an 8x8 or a 9x16?
I don't want a thin layer of meat mixture, but I also don't want it bubbling over all over the oven!

The 8x8 is probably too small - it will be full before you add the potato topping. But the 9x13 is too large (it's almost twice the volume of the 8x8). A 9x9 would be ideal. If you don't have one, you'll have to settle for the 9x13, but the meat layer will be on the thin side.
