    I cant locate Marmite anywhere near me(i am in ontario canada) do you know of a substutite for it by chance?

    It's yeast extract and is used to give a meatier (umami) flavor. Other brand names are Vegemite, Promite, Oxo, Cenovis, and Vitam-R. You could incorporate something like a bit of miso, nutritional yeast, cooked shiitakes (or other mushrooms), some Worcestershire sauce, or anchovy paste to increase the umami dfflavor, or just omit it.
