Well, we finished our class - and again, it went well.
Wow, huh? Bob was absolutely astounded that Jar was SO good - I mean, there he is, in a room full of other dogs, totally heeling and not paying any attention to any of them!
The class is really very much "more of the same" - we come in, do some variation of sit, stay, down, come, finish right / left. . . without holding onto the leash.
Then we do the heeling thing - I still keep Jar on his leash, though that show-offy poodly thing and the overly-exuberant GSD went off-leash.
Today we did a little "leave it" HA - we practice that every morning during Kitty Tolerance Time - I set a piece of CHICKEN down and tell him to leave it. While the other dogs were all, "hey, a milk bone!" Jar was resting it on his paw ignoring the crap out of it.
So anyway, I signed him up for YET ANOTHER advanced class - the way I figure it is that it's good for him to learn to deal with a room full of dogs, and for the price of the class, I'm not going to be able to give him that exposure any cheaper. And I can't help thinking that the more confident he feels, well, the more confidently he'll act, right?
PLUS, I also signed him up for TRACKING in June! How cool with that be? That's not until June, though. But he said that tracking usually sell out "like a Dave Matthews concert" - so I wanted to get while the getting was good.
We're off for the next two weeks, then we've got the next 6 weeks of class after that, then it'll be spring.
