February 14th is Valentine’s Day
February’s biggest and best known holiday is Valentine’s Day also known as the Feast of Saint Valentine.
Valentine’s day began as a public celebration of one or more early Christian saints named Valentinus. The most popular of which was imprisoned for performing weddings for the Roman soldiers who at that time were forbidden to marry. From there the romantic association of Valentine’s Day flourished throughout the Middle Ages and has continued to grow into a day were it is common to woo ones lover with a seductive and romantic meal or show to show ones children how much you love them with some fun and loving foods such as heart shaped pancakes or cookies.

February is National Fondue Month
What do February and National Fondue month share? Both can be fun, romantic and are best enjoyed with other people.
Fondue is a Swiss, French and Italian dish of melted cheese served in a communal pot over a portable stove or burner. The dinners use long forks to dip cubed bread into a melted blend of cheeses, wine and a little seasoning. In the 1930’s Fondue was promoted as a Swiss national dish but it originated in the area were the Switzerland, France (Rhone Alps) and Italy (Piedmont and Aosta valley) Alps all connect.
In the 1950’s foodies started using other liquids in the communal pot to create different types of Fondue, such as hot oil into which cubes of meat are dipped with a verity of flavoring sauces served on the side for dipping after one pulls the meat from the hot oil. Another yet less popular Fondue consist of a hot broth into which vegetables and meat are dipped, but by far one of the most loved and romantic Fondues is the Chocolate Fondue into which cubes of fruit, pastry and marshmallows are dipped.

February 23 is Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day
While we are using our kitchens to spread the love this month let’s not forget those who give us unconditional love by celebrating International Dog Biscuit Day.
No one but man or woman’s best friend can really appreciate the true value of a dog biscuit. They say "Every dog has his day". And, it will definitely be your loving dog’s day if you make him some tasty dog biscuits.
