    Love it! icon_smile.gif
I can't remember the first time I tried calamari, but it was courtesy of my dad. I've had it nasty bad and exceptionally good over the years, and sometimes it's cooked properly, but the batter is lacking flavor. After we moved away from Seattle I thought I'd never get good calamari again. Well, it took 12 years, but finally we found it here! icon_biggrin.gif

We have a Basque restaurant named Epi's. Family run, sweet, sweet people, and the food is TDF good. DD's best friend is 6 and will order an entire appy of the calamari for her actual dinner. We like to celebrate special occasions here. icon_smile.gif

love it lightly fried with a zesty tomato sauce for dipping! true story: my cousin's daughter visited me in the nyc area when she was 10 years old. i was warned she could be a picky eater sometimes. one night i took her to a neighborhood italian restaurant that served wonderful calamari. i let her order what she wanted, and told her i was going to order calamari and she could try it if she wanted. well, she mustered up her adventurousness and tried one. then another and another, saying, this is soooo goood! afterwards she called her parents and excitedly said, "guess what? i ate squid! it was delicious!

my cousins later told me that after that, whenever the family went out to an italian restaurant, they always ordered calamari and she got her sisters to love it too. icon_biggrin.gif
