Nail Polish-outside the comfort zone

So we had a thread going not to long ago and nail polish took over. I'm a Berry Red girl. Dark Berry Red. Anyway, I needed some new polish and this is what I came home with.

Very nice!!!
Mine are just a plain Cherry Red with little black hearts on them right now. I need to redo them but my fingers are splitting so I am afraid the use remover on them. It's going to HURT!!!!!!

I like it! Very pretty.

I have been stuck on Orly's Pink Chocolate for awhile. I just wish my cuticles look as good as the hand models. Time for a hot oil manicure.

I am very traditional with my nail polish choices - reds/pinks etc.
I like navy and black polish on other people but it looks awful with my pale skin tone.

I don't have nice nails, so I just use a clear lustre-finish base coat. Perfect for when I paint over my cuticles. Nobody can see it.

But my toes are different. I put anything on them. I'd put Dibs blue polish on my toe nails. For a long time I used white on my toes. Then I went the other way and started using dark mahogany, black. forest green. It's fun.

I wear all kinds of crazy colors on my toes. At the moment they're a peachy orange color. I rarely get anything except white tips on my fingers tho. Not sure why really. Maybe next time I'll do something different.

I had purple done on my toes to impress my daughter. HATED it.
Right now the toes are nekked.

The fingers get a biweekly french no chip mani. It's the easiest to maintain. No signs of wear & tear and grow out.

I have an almost Pepto Bismol pink on my toes right now! LOL
I bit the bullet and took off my red with black hearts (yes it hurt a LOT ) and painted my fingers Bordeaux (dark red) and drew hearts and dots on them with sliver. I was have tempted to top coat my fingertips too to seal up the cracks! LOL

I have ugly fingernails so only use a clear on them but I do have a pretty blue that I like to use on my toenails...the blue matches my veins. Ha ha ha!

Too much yard work and gardening; and beach walking (a definite destroyer of painted toes).

But, if I have a special event to go to. Toes, I like the blues, purples, odd colors. NEVER dark colors. The nails are always short, so clear if anything. It doesn't last more than a day or two, so why bother.

I put on the Sally Hansen color yesterday afternoon. It came off an hour later-I couldn't get over the fact that it reminded me of photos of a funky nail fungus. On the upside:
there is so much fine gold glitter in it that it might fly as a undercoat for a sheer red next christmas.

I have on the blue/green now. I will have it off by 10 On the upside:
I have 2 ankle length wrap around skirts that are very "caribbean" in colors and prints. This will be "The" perfect blue for my toes. I think I will go back this weekend for the Mango polish, just in case

I don't bother polishing my fingernails as it never lasts on me no matter what top coat I have tried. I think my hands are in water just too darn much. My toe polish lasts forever!

On a funny note - my daughter bought these fake nails today so I was helping her glue them on and my skin got stuck on her and I had to rip my finger off her nail. Then not a minute later, my two fingers got stuck each other and I couldn't separate them. I was starting to panic and of course she was killing herself laughing while I poured nail polish remover on my fingers to try to loosen the glue. It was kind of scary and it hurt too. Waaaah!

What really gets me is those fancy shmancy fingernails they show on Pinterst with tiny, intricate designs. I can only think to myself..."No way!". I imagine how long it takes to paint them like that and know it can't last very long. Seems like such a waste of time to me. But that's me...

Nails would last 2 days with me. I tried them a few times ... DURING the winter when not much gardening, kayaking, water skiing, or swimming they may last a week or more. The rest of the year ... 2 days. Besides; how can you type, cook, or just survive with them. Geeze. And the time it takes ... OMG, there is so much more in life to do rather than paint my nails. Sorry guys, I just don't get it. IMO
