Maybelle has grown into a very pretty girl. She is about the size of a pitt bull and has some of the same look. She also has spots - not as many as a dalmatian, though. She has decided she is my protector.

One of my grandsons has been staying with us since just before Christmas. He came into the house one night when I was watching tv. He opened the back door and came in rather quietly. Maybelle was asleep on the floor near me. She jumped up and made such a ruckus I thought she was about to bite him.

Last night my son came home and instead of coming through the back door he went into the screened porch and came up to the french doors. Maybelle about had a heart attack. She wanted to eat him! She was fine once she realized it was him.

She's good with the little ones, thank heavens. I still watch her, though and make sure they don't startle her when she's sleeping, etc. 'Course I don't let them bother any of the dogs when they are sleeping. Trying to teach them some boundaries!

It sounds like Maybelle's got things well under control! icon_smile.gif

Jar does the same thing when my son comes by - he goes bat-snot crazy when the front door opens, then when he sees Josh, he's all "oh, it's you. I'm keeping my eye on you, though."

You don't need to worry about somebody breaking in with Maybelle on guard. She got to be a big girl didn't she? She's so lucky you rescued her. As are you. icon_smile.gif

Maybe she's trying to teach your children and grandchildren how to come in the proper way.
