Savory Apple Crock Pork Pork Butt. Using a Xmas present from a friend ... a seasoning packet from an OH local farm store. It was fantastic.

I seasoned the pork and seared in olive oil.
Added to the crock on top of a chopped apple and large onion, and added the rest of the seasoning.
Added a cup of amber/winter harvest beer and cooked on high for 30 minutes, then low for 6 hours.
Removed the pork, strained the liquid and saved 1/2 cup. Added a spicy chipotle BBQ sauce and cooked on the stove top for 10 minutes.

Basic mayo/vinegar coleslaw; and, planned spud salad, but ended up adding 4 small red potatoes to the crock instead. Easier, and just as good.

Seasoning from my friend in OH; it smells so good

    In the saute pan

On to the crock pot, remaining seasoning to be added

Out, and fall apart tender. Barely could keep it together taking it out

The sauce from the crock before I added the BBQ

    DINNER!

Yeah, I strained the sauce; but the apple and onion gave it a GREAT flavor. The sauce was a generic spicy/chipotle sauce, but I also added a spoon of apple jelly too. The mix of that and the beer/apple/onion sauce from the pork was really good.

Yes, it was a nice Xmas Gift; Well enjoyed. And the pork turned out really tender. Not fancy; but a nice easy dinner for sure. And plenty of leftovers is the best part.

I get the sauce from a local market. 3.50, NOT expensive, but tasty. But it is basic other than the chipotle. I love to add some apple jelly, cherry jelly; apricot jelly, etc. You can really jazz it up and it is delicious with the heat. Worth every penny.
