oooh, nice, stop tempting me with books, KM, I have a million already but just cannot resist these super ones!!!!
enjoy the cookies
TNPTP had a very difficult weekend
can it be February now please? on top of a lot of other stuff, I lost Piper, my 6 yr old XShepherd, the sweetest, most courteous and polite, gentle loving girl you ever met. She was fine, fine, I had just been petting her earlier in the morning and she was fine..... then DH offered her breakfast, she didnt want it, and seemed a bit unhappy, I examined her and thought maybe a bit of an infection starting .. I got out the car, she jumped in and settled down to watch the scenery, just sitting upright quietly in the back of the car, as she always did. My vet is quite literally 8 minutes away and there was no traffic, Sunday morning ... as I drove, I watched her, she was calm, her usual self -- suddenly, she seemed to gasp, started to turn towards me, and abruptly collapsed. I hammered down the road to the vet, Piper, please, hold on ... at the vets, the vet ran outside to tend to her, then turned to me and sorrowfully shook her head ..... I'm embarrassed to say I fell apart a little, I'm crying as I share this with you, my sweet Piper, she seems to have suffered a massive heart attack, it must have hit her like a sledge-hammer,. I just cant really take it in, she was only 6, and she was Fine, absolutely fine, just that morning. Apparently, these things can happen....
Piper (sitting upright) and Muttley .. Muttley passed on a few years ago, my only small consolation right now is that she adored him, and they're together now, they're safe and happy and its always nice weather and dog biscuits and no thunderstorms ... .....

Oh, KE I am so sorry. You did all that a pet owner could do and I am so sorry that she is gone. Know that she loved you and had a good life in her time with you. My daughter, Kat, just had to put her cat down and was very comforted by the thought that the love keeps flowing even if the beloved pet is no longer here.
TNPTP has a family member in the hospital

KM, Dana, thank you .... it has been such a sharp reminder that our time is measured in minutes, appreciate them, take nothing for granted. Know when you're happy, instead of remembering when you were.
Thank you, I know you understand my loss, and as my mum said, Karen, remmeber that the pain and suffering is yours, Piper didnt suffer, she went quickly, happily, doing what she liked best, having a car ride, she was with me, she wasn't alone....... thank you guys my sweet little girl ...
KM, my thoughts also with your daughter, losing a beloved pet of many years leaves such a huge and gaping hole, I wish her comfort in her memories
and I do hope whoever is in the hospital has a speedy and complete recovery!!! my thoughts with them also

My car hasn't been in the shop, yet. But the speedometer has been broken for several months. Thank heavens for the speed that is displayed on my Garmin! Hope they get your's fixed properly.
TNPTP never buys anything online without first checking for a virtual discount coupon at www.retailmenot.com.
I got so disgusted with trying to find a recipe since I have many here, and others bookmarked at other sites. We all know that cookbooks here never were the same here after the takeover. I have about a hundred emails filed that point to recipes here-there-and everywhere. I bought the software at www.dvo.com. It was on sale and Retail Me Not saved me another $23. I love that it "captures" recipes from web pages so I am slowly getting organized finally. If you watch the video, it demonstrates capturing a recipe here! I had zmailed the chef whose recipe is shown and she was delighted.
