Nothing can substitute for cilantro, the flavor is unique, especially if it's a Mexican dish or an Asian dish. What is the recipe number?

Some people do not tolerate cilantro. While nothing will provide the same flavor, you can use parsley to provide a green garnish to the recipe.

There are commercial cleaners that smell like cilantro, which is probably why some people compare the taste to soap.

If you don't like or can't get it, I would recommend just leaving it out.

I like cilantro, but it verges on smelling 'metallic' to me. Especially while chopping it. But it doesn't taste like metallic.

The 'Barefoot Contessa' (Food Network) hates Cilantro and says it tastes like laundry detergent, yet she loves Tarragon. I love cilantro and dislike tarragon---go figure. My mother would never put oregano in her spaghetti sauce because she said it tasted like hay. That said, there really is no substitute for cilantro as far as it's unique flavor goes. Just use parsley, even though the dish won't taste the same.
