I am looking to make some bread bowls for our soup nights. While I am an experienced bread baker, I've never done bowls. Looking for recipes, do/don't ideas, etc.

There are two ways of doing bread bowls--either baking small round loaves free-form in the size you want and then hollowing them out, or shaping a disc of dough over upturned oven-proof bowls on a sheet pan and baking them. I prefer the second method because it doesn't require the waste of hollowing out loaves, and because the inside has a smooth crust that will not become soggy really fast once soup is in it. If you don't have enough small bowls you can use just one and shape several foil "molds" around it until you have enough. However you do it, be sure to spray or grease well before adding dough. You can use any bread dough that you like for your bowls. Good luck!
