Turbo Convection Oven - Any tips?

Hi! I received a Crofton Turbo Convection Oven as a gift. I'm trying to decide whether to keep it or return it.... I'm not sure how useful it will be and I have limited kitchen storage space. The direction book has a few recipes, mostly for meats - looks like it might be handy for cooking a whole chicken in it - it seems like with the shorter cook time there might even be energy savings. Anywho; I was just wondering if anyone here has one and what you use it for, if you think its worth having or not. Thanks for any tips or recipes you might be able to share!

    Hi Karen,
    Welcome to Gadgets! wave.gif

I wish I had some definitive answers for you, but mostly I have some questions. I tried finding information on the Crofton Turbo Convection Oven, but I've not been able to find anything that tells me if it's an infrared type counter top oven, or if it's like a microwave/convection oven combo.

I have some links you can check out that might give you some direction, depending on what kind of oven you have.

Do be careful when searching other sites on this oven because I got a serious threat alert for a virus that attacks everyone on your Facebook page after opening one site that allegedly had recipe information for this oven. icon_sad.gif

Here is a link for a thread here about the Super Wave and NuWave ovens:

If you have a regular oven or micro/conv combo, then I do have experience with both home (M/C combo) and full-size commercial convection ovens, for cooking and baking. So if you have questions about adapting regular recipes for the convection oven feel free to ask me anything. You'll also find a lot of what I've experienced in the threads below.

And here is a link to my microwave/convection oven cookbook:

    I hope this information helps.
    Good luck!

Hmmm, thanks for your help - mine is an infrared type counter top convection oven - I saw the thread on the Nu-wave but didn't realize it was the same thing!
It was on sale at Aldi's for 28 bucks so I guess I will keep it and give it a try since she didn't spend a whole lot for it. I have a whole chicken in the fridge so I guess I will try that in it tonight! Might turn out to be usefull enough to find a spot for it somewhere!

Thanks for the links; I will check all those out.

Oh great! Knowing that it's an infrared helps a lot. Let me steer you directly to Starfire (aka Wendy)'s cookbook. She's got 58 infrared recipes in there for you to try that may easily translate to your oven. icon_smile.gif NuWave/Flavorwave Oven Recipes
