    Chicken Fried Steak

Now were talkin'! Chicken fried steak with cream gravy. Usually it's a round steak (or chuck) you have pounded thin or a cube steak you bought from the grocery store. You dip it in egg wash, dredge it in seasoned flour and fry it in shortening or lard. Country fried is exactly the same until you get to the cooking part-that's usually done in a small amount of butter or shortening. A few recipes for country-fried skip the egg part. Depending on where you live, it's served for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Classic sides are mashed potatoes, biscuits and something green icon_lol.gif It's culinary nirvana if you ask me!

Authentic Texas Chicken Fried Steak Seasoning Mix

    So, whatcha got?

The bragging rights recipe is not a chicken recipe. It's a beef recipe. "Chicken-fried" is the cooking method, but "chicken-fried steak" is beef. I made this recipe with round steak.

I think a lot of non-Americans get confused by that name. It is beef, though! icon_lol.gif
