We're beginning to build a library, feel free to pick one (or 2) that you like and tag it over in the NA/ME Tag
Did you survive the holidays in good shape?

Thank you, A!! Tired here...busy overnight after a busy day & busy today through the weekend as dd turns (GULP) SIXTEEN.
Will it be a big party? Got some friends you can call in to help prep?
Sixteen is a big one. I got my first kiss at my sixteenth birthday party!
Thanks, but you're not helping! No, no big party for this kid. She never wanted that. She's having a few besties over & i'm making mac & cheese, lemon chicken & red velvet cake.

Hummm, maybe I should have skipped the kiss part?
That sounds better than the party thing though. I love's lemon chicken!

Oh I missed so much with DH home. Elmotoo will it make you feel better if my fist kiss was after 16?!! Then again I didn't do those sweet sixteen celebrations!
Salam alaikum from Annacia is the greeting Muslims make to one another no matter where they are from, Oman included.
I did try searching though my phone for Omani recipes through Google. I found mostly Indian recipes probably because Omani girls families tend to demand a lot of money 'maher' it is called in Arabic, in order to wed their daughters so many Omani boys families have brought girls from India to marry, at least in the past it was like this.
Burfi for example is an Indian sweet.
Not sure what else to say but loved the photos, sound of posted chicken recipes and chatter.

I made Omani Spice Mix. I used it to season some cauliflower and sweet potatoes that I was roasting. I also stirred some into some rice. I added chicken and the roasted vegetables. Delicious! It also smelled fantastic while roasting.

Morning Ummie
While I'm not Muslim I love the greeting and the sound of it. This forum is really the only place that I have a chance to use it, so
Salam alaikum Ummie
The Burfi was found in a list of Omani Dessert's so I would assume that it's been well adopted in Oman and is now common there. I had no idea about the relationship with India and marriage but it sure helps explain why I kept finding so many Indian recipes listed for Oman. Very interesting, inside info is good.
