Thanks tasb. I'll let you know what I do.

I was very busy this week at work so thankfully I got all the stuff done I had to do on Sunday. This week was jam packed with things.
Monday was baking with the Gr 3-4 class, we did almost 10 dozen Chocolate Chip Cookies, to share with the school and for the kids to take home, we did it in the morning and served it for a late snack. Then we got evacuated a little early because of a small gas leak.
Tuesday, I was told we had no hot water, so gloves it was for the day, turns out there was hot water but we had to wait for the repair man to come replace a pipe. I did some office work for the morning. Had to change recess snack to muffins (which I had frozen instead of Bananas which were green). After lunch I had the Kindergarten- grade 2's come in to make Homemade Playdough. Learning experience. I made it with them last year but I doubled the recipe this year. Total mistake.
Wednesday was Picture Day AND the janitor booked a Inspection for the hood fan in the kitchen. I was NOT happy because I had to cancel the scheduled snack, I should have been making Oatmeal Cookies, but cancelled it and served Bananas, because they have to turn off all my fire suppression, which turns off the gas. Well I guess it balanced it out because I had served muffins the day before. Also I should have been prepping all day for our Back To School BBQ which was on Thursday, but all the talking going on around me was annoying.
So Thursday morning I was rushing around totally behind because all I did that week for prep was boil the eggs. But with some help I got everything out basically on time. A total of 71 people in the building. I made 6 dozen Deviled Eggs, 112 burgers (and for the toppings lettuce, tomato, cheese slices, raw and cooked onion), 48 hotdogs, 1 bus bin Caesar Salad, and 2 purchased desserts.
Friday, I was rushed in the morning, I had pancakes for breakfast, then I had to make the sandwiches for a field trip, which we were scheduled to leave at 10. But I went on the trip, which was Traditional Fishing for Salmon and really enjoyed myself. I sat around on the rocks, keeping an eye on the kids and watched what was going on, served snack and lunch, but not much else.
Oh and I forgot to tell you about my find, Tuesday morning I was opening up the banana box to look see if I could find enough ripe ones. Well I opened the plastic and something fell on the floor beside me, I looked down and there is this reddish millipede like thing crawling around. I wanted to stomp it, but decided to trap it in a container and give it to our Gr 5-7 teacher, she has become our weird bug person. Well the class looked it up, turns out it probably came from Ecuador. They have taken it in as a class pet.

Oh have to tell you about this cute conversation I had Thursday. I was asked to serve chocolate milk that afternoon to the K-2 class as we had a Field Trip on Friday (which is normally our chocolate milk day). Well I am near the back of the room washing dishes after the BBQ and the cute little voice calls me from the window.
Kid: "Tammy I have something for you."
Me: You have something for me? What do you have?"
Kid: "I can't tell you, you have to come here."
Me: *drying hands* "As long as you don't have a spider"
Kid: *giggles* "No I don't have a spider, but hurry up"
The kid hands me a note asking for their chocolate milk.
That just totally made my hectic day worth it. Then about 15 minutes before school is out, I get another "Tammy" this time a Gr 2 kid. She hands me a card they just made for me, thanking me for the BBQ and making Playdough with them. A couple of them drew on their thank you papers me pushing the trolley with their milk or me and them with a trolley. I really wanted to cry.

tasb, you live such a whirlwind life.
Love the chocolate milk and bug stories.
Mon Sep 23, 2013 10:11 amFood.com Groupie
tasb, it sounds as if you are kept busy at work. You have to constantly think on your feet for your job. I like the story about chocolate milk.
Yesterday and today I have walked 20 minutes a day. I would like to get it up to 30 minutes a day. I don't think I am ready quite yet because my lungs seem to be having trouble. I do a lot of coughing.

Laury, 20 minutes of walking is great and if your body is saying that's enough for now, then that is enough for now. It's good that you're listening to what it says.
Mon Sep 23, 2013 9:52 pmFood.com Groupie
Laury, good for you getting in 20 minutes a day. At least you are getting in some walking.
Leggy Peggy, good to see you checking in.
Me, this weekend was more relaxing. I didn't do much at all until last night. I had some Italian sausage and turkey sausage that needed to be cooked up. The Italian sausage was for Stuffed Manicotti, to use up lots of leftover cottage cheese from the lasagnas I made the other week. I put them into the freezer because I don't have any pasta sauce for them. I also cooked and froze the turkey sausage for breakfasts.
My job really should be so much thinking on my feet. I do plan a whole month at a time, but I always have to change things around because things come up. Some people roll with it, where as others tend to get grumpy that I change things, sometimes without notification.

I'm sorry that I have been out of touch but my computer hard drive died. I have been out of a computer for about 2 weeks, My Kindle lets me do some things but it is minimal. My computer tech is installing a new hard drive but he hasn't returned it yet. The reason I am online right now is I am at my sister's for a few days while Tom visits his brother. I will be home the 9th with no computer. I am not hurrying the computer tech because he isn't charging labor.

My goodness, we all must have been busy and sidetracked.
Laury, glad you and Tom are getting a little break and glad your computer will get the 'surgery' it needs.
My weight is holding steady, which is better than going up.

It's been a while since I checked in.
My weight has been holding steady, too, for most of the summer. I can't quite figure it out because I am certainly walking every day. Definitely better than gaining!
I've increased my walking with the weather cooling, so I'm hoping to see results this month.
My husband has also been inspired to be healthier and has started walking regularly. He has lost 7 lbs so far!

Yikes it has been a while since I posted here. I have been busy, last weekend I went to the farm stand and picked up a bunch of apples and other things. I spent all day Sunday canning Applesauce (4 kinds) and Pickled Jalapeno Slices. I ended up with 74 (1/2 cup) jars filled/ I did up:
14 Plain Applesauce
14 Apple Pie Sauce, aka Spiced Applesauce
18 Strawberry Applesauce
18 Blueberry Applesauce
10 Pickled Jalapeno Slices
The rest of the week has been spent dehydrating Spiced Apple Slices. I have a gallon jar filled and want to do a gallon jar of plain apple slices.
Then Tuesday/Wednesday morning I went to start up the SUV to head to work when I realized there was frost on the windows. So after work I went to the garden and started harvesting. My plan was only the squash and pick any ripe tomatoes, strawberries. But I called the family out and we did all the harvesting, so that stuff is sitting on my kitchen floor in containers and boxes waiting to be put up. I had a very small harvest this year, which I really don't mind. I didn't take care of the garden and the freezers are already full.
My weight has been wonky. I go up on weekends then it takes until Wednesday/Thursday to come down again. But it is to be expected as I haven't been exercising at all. I am down 3 lbs as of yesterday morning, probably all the running for the phone at work. I haven't made it a habit to carry the cordless with me when I am in the hallway. Or someone borrows my cordless and doesn't return it so I have to run across the hall.
Laury, good to hear from you, sorry to hear the computer hard drive died, but so good that the tech isn't charging labor. Have a good visit with your sister while Tom is away.
Leggy Peggy, good to hear you are holding steady.
Recipe Reader, sorry to hear you are holding with the walking everyday, awesome to hear you encouraged your hubby to join you.
PS, I have a blast from my past going on right now. We just hired a new Substitute Teacher, when she called back I took a message for the Principal, and after I got off the phone all I could think of is the name looked familiar. I later handed that message off the boss and she mentioned it in our staff meeting that afternoon. I was ready to pipe up asking if anyone else recognized that name, it is very unique. Well I looked around the room but it didn't look like it ran any bells. So I didn't say anything. So Thursday morning I am just about at work and I see this white truck driving up the school hill. I pull into the parking lot, thinking maybe it is a roofer or something, but see a woman in there. I get out and grab my stuff. She asks if it was alright to park where she was and I said yes, introduced myself and told her my position. After I unlocked the door, she asked me if I attended a program at the University of BC back in 93. Then it all came back to me, we were in that program together. It has been just over 20 years since we last talked. We talk when we get a few minutes, catching up on things since then. She has kept up with a few others, so she has been telling me about them and even sent a text one and let her know we have reconnected.

Peggy. it's good to have your weight stable. At least it isn't increasing.
Recipe Reader, I hope the increased walking and your husband joining you when he can will help make a difference on the scales.
tasb, wow!! Making 74 jars of applesauce and pickled jalapeno slices is a lot!! Then all the things you grew which will take more work is a big job. It's strange that your weight goes up and down each week. That's interesting that your acquaintance and you were in the same program.
I finally got my computer back today. I have so much e-mail and other things to deal with. One strange thing is I tried to use my facebook account where I save all my passwords at my sisters. The password was wrong. I got home today and tried it. It worked perfectly!! I saved it so many years ago that I thought I had forgotten how to do it and it is a password that if you forget there is no way to receive it. I walked a lot at my sister's until my asthma and coughing got too severe. She has a cat which I am allergic to and it kind of messed up my breathing. I will start exercising again after I see my doctor next Monday.

I can't believe it has been over 3 weeks since I posted. I did check in an read but was too sorry to post.
Things, in general, are fine here. I haven't lost anymore and am still losing and gaining those 3 lbs. I understand why I have this week because it was the annual Swappin' Meetin" Fall Festival type thing and my sister and I went but we only went to one both. The one with homemade candy, cakes, bars, and nut rolls.
Tomorrow I finally go back for my EGD. I dread this so much because they have such a hard time getting an IV in me. Keep me in your thoughts tomorrow and hope they get my IV first time and find out why I am not losing, with the exception of this week.
Glad everyone seems to be doing fine.

Jacqueline and Laury, I'll be keeping you both in my thoughts.
Jacqueline for your IV and Laury for your breathing.

I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, Jacqueline! I walked 10 minutes this morning. We have now decided that I go to the doctor and talk to you about exercising because I am now on oxygen most of the time. It hurts too much for breathing without it.
