Leggy Peggy, I am so sorry for the loss of your dog!! It's wonderful that you didn't gain weight while trying all those new foods!!

I walked 10 minutes both yesterday and today I am so frustrated with getting results from the 2nd opinion doctors. I sent an e-mail asking the lung doctor's office to contact me if/when they hear about the 2nd opinion. I was told, this morning, that I must wait a month. This is not to my liking at all. I went into the bedroom so I could be alone and try to cope. Just then our power company decided we needed to have a 2+ hour blackout. During a blackout we usually take naps so I couldn't even be alone to deal. The dinner Tom was making crock-pot roast with barbecue sauce has been tossed out. I guess we will find something else.

Sorry to hear the day has been a bummer for you. I know my sister would agree with you about how annoying it is to wait for results. She had some 'urgent' tests done for what appears to be an 'urgent' issue, but has to wait almost a month for answers. icon_rolleyes.gif

Sorry I have been sorta MIA this week.

Laury, happy to see you are getting at least 1 walk a day. I have never heard of those grapes, what a cheap store I must shop at, they only have green, red and black. Hoping you hear from the Drs' soon. Sorry to hear you had to throw out your dinner because a power outage.

Leggy Peggy, good to see you. Happy to hear you had a great trip. Also happy to hear the scale was good to you. Did you get to try anything new when you were traveling? Sorry to hear your dog passed away. How sad.

Me, I had a very busy week, no exercise again, but I did manage to lose 0.6 lbs. I don't know how, but happy I did. Saturday after a trip to town, me and the girls went to the farm, they were having a tomato sale. I ended up picking up 50 lbs roma tomatoes, and ingredients for salsa, a small watermelon. The canning I did Sunday I mixed and matched jars.

Sunday I canned: equal to 4 pints Pizza Sauce, equal to 4 pints Medium Pureed Salsa, and equal to 4 pints Mild Chunky Salsa.

Monday: after having my DD's birthday dinner and cake I started canning at 7 pm. I did 3 batches Diced Tomatoes, 2 batches (6 pint jars each) Italian Seasoned Tomatoes, and the last batch was 7 pints of plain diced tomatoes. I was going until 11:30.

Tuesday, I did nothing, too tired and another headache from not much sleep. Wednesday, all I did was cook up 10 lb hamburger. Thursday, I came home and made a big batch pasta sauce and made Lasagnas for the freezer. I ended up with 12 pans (5x9"), 2 of them I made with zucchini instead of noodles, try it out.

It is probably carrying that canner back and forth that helped me lose weight, and the fact I rarely eat snacks in the morning when I am working.

tasb, you get plenty of informal exercise and that is doing the trick. What a nice surprise for you to see the scale shift downwards. Now that I'm home I need to get back into my formal and informal exercise activities. My daughter and I are going to go to Pilates together. Plus the weather is fining-up (it's spring in our part of the world) so I should get out the bike.

Hope you still walking Laury, even if just a little.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Leggy Peggy, I am sorry that your sister has to wait a month to hear results from her doctors. It is stressful to have to wait a month . I am sure when you start doing Pilates with your daughter you will start losing weight.

tasb, sometimes exercising isn't worth it when you don't sleep well and are exhausted. You are still losing weight.

I try to get at least 10 minutes walk in most days a week. Sometiimes I can't because I don't get 10 minutes time to myself.

Hello everyone, just found you all when having a long overdue look around the site. Is it ok for me to join in with you all? I used to be a regular in the GB&Ireland thread, but have been busy with other things and trying really hard to get into a healthy weight range and more importantly become fitter. I'm going to spend one time reading previous posts then if its ok with you all, I'll jump inboard and tell you a bit about myself x

    Hi Frugal Fifer wave.gif

You are most welcome to join in. This group is open to everyone who wants some support and encouragement as they try to get fitter and lose a little (or a lot) of weight.

Often the thread is a bit slow, but I think that's when everyone is out trying to exercise more. icon_wink.gif

Frugal Fifer, please join right in. I am not on as much as I use to be, but am trying to incorporate other things into my life other than FB and food.com. icon_smile.gif

Tasb, you always amaze me at the food you store up. I wish I could put food up for one, but it is really a waste to do so.

Laury, good to hear you are getting one walk in.

    Peggy glad you are back.

I drug out my Wii Fit the other day and am trying to exercise with it again. Man that first evening just about killed me. I am so out of shape and the main reason is sitting in front of this computer.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Frugal Fiver, do come join in. None of us are around as much as we used to be but I think it will be great having new members.

Leggy Peggy, Tom is keeping more of an eye on me. I try to do 10 minutes walking a day but many days he suggests I rest. He usually goes off once a week and today is the day.

Jacqueline, I understand how you feel about trying to exercise and finding you have problems.

I am now trying to walk 2 10-minute periods a day. Sometimes it's hard because my lungs hurt. Today is one of those days. I wish the doctors would figure out what the heck is going on and a way to stop it. My Elder Care counselor came around last Friday. Tom has been wanting a week off but he is not sure about leaving me for a week. They have a system set up where if he goes away for a week either someone will move in here for a week. I'm against this because the apartment is so small. The other option is moving me somewhere for a week. We mentioned this to my sister and she suggested that if Tom goes visit his brother for a week, I could stay with her and my BL for a week. We may consider this.

First off I am pleased to report that I have lost almost half a pound since getting back from South America. I've really upped the amount of exercise I'm doing and it making a difference.

So Jacqueline keep going with your Wii Fit. I'm sure you'll start to see results.

Laury, it's a great idea for Tom and you both to 'have a week off' from the every day routine. My hubby's Aunt Esther lived with us from the time she was 89 until she went in to demented aged care at age 97. I was her main carer. It's a big job and a break every now and then makes a big difference. Australia has a big program of respite care (that's what they call it here) and knows the benefits it can bring. I'm so pleased to hear you are considering it.

Leggy Peggy, good to see you back and posting regularly. I need to get back on track here too. Took a couple weeks off exercising because I have been trying to get canning and freezing done. Good for you losing 1/2 lb.

Laury, sounds like Tom is sticking close by. Hope you are almost healed now. Good for you getting some walking in. Sorry to hear your lungs are in pain. Hopefully you get something set up for when Tom heads out.

Frugal Fifer, welcome to the group. Nice to see a new face around here.

Jacequeline, good for you getting out the Wii Fit. We have a X-Box with Kinex, but I have no interest in it.

Me, my weight found me again this weekend. I spent all day Sunday cooking. After breakfast I made 3 dozen Zucchini Muffins (1 dozen to the freezer), 3 lg & 1 med freezer bag Deep-Fried Zucchini Sticks, 1 lg pot Beef Stew (which we had dinner and I then made 24 pot pies), 4 racks of ribs went to the roaster and then coated with BBQ sauce and frozen for 2 dinners and a bit leftover. 6 loaves White Bread, froze some beans I got out of the garden and filled the dehydrator with tomatoes from the garden. Now the freezers are almost filled to the brim I realized hubby was going hunting this year. OPPS, not used of him hunting as it has been years. Well I guess we have to start eating from the freezer. Which is ok with me. I am getting too tired and frustrated doing these multiple jobs I have at work.

tasb, I've been thinking about getting a dehydrator, but wondering if I would make good enough use of it. Do you use yours a lot?

Leggy Peggy, good job on doing more exercise!!

tasb, you are constantly working on keeping your freezer full and saving your family money!!

I walked once today so far and I plan to do one more today in just a few minutes. Tom just left for a few hours to do some shopping so I should have the time.

I love my dehydrator. I dry mainly fruits. I do apples, spiced apples, pears, spiced pears, bananas, apricots, sweet cherries, kiwi, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries. I mix them and portion them for snacks, or add them to oatmeal.

This year is my first time drying zucchini and tomatoes. I tried jerky a couple times but never liked it.

I have a cheap one but am debating on getting a bigger one.
