I haven't had much of a connection for almost a week and also missed out
on notifications. Laury, hope all goes well with your surgery, and that the
doctor can solve some of the mystery. Thinking of you.

Peggy it was good to hear from you.

Laury hope you are out of the hospital and doing better.

Tasb and RR I am always proud of you two.

As for me, yesterday I felt wonderful, we gave the waitress at the Mexican restaurant a baby shower and all was fine. Today I woke up as sick as I was earlier in the week. I guess it was getting wet with the rain yesterday.

Hope everyone has a great week ahead.

Oh No Jacqueline, sorry to hear you got sick again.

Leggy Peggy, good to see you checking in.

Me, well I did exercise last night. I almost didn't, but I told myself it is only 1/2 hour out of my life, something I needed to do. So I got on my elliptical for 30 minutes then did all my physio exercises, double the amount. So 30 minutes turned into 1 hour. So I was proud of myself for doing it. Yesterday I decided to teach myself a new beading technique. It is for making earrings. I was getting frustrated, constantly backing up because of mistakes and had to restart twice. I finally put it down and then picked it up this morning and got it done. Well only about half, I got the top part done. I still need to do the beaded fringe. But I am mostly happy with it now. Most of my problems is the beads aren't all the same size. We also had a very quick thunderstorm here last night. I was worried that I might have lost the rest of the apricots because the wind, but there was lots left still, so I went out and picked another 6 buckets. I made 6 loaves Fresh Apricot Bread (hoping it tastes good and I never tried it before). Then I am going to freeze a bunch. I asked a co-worker if she would like some, she has been giving me apples every year, so I have to pay her back some how. Then I am going do to up a few more freezer bags full to just give away.

Leggy Peggy, I agree with others who enjoy your checking in when you get a chance.

    Jacqueline, get well soon!!

tasb, getting your exercise done is the way to go!!

I got home Monday but my computer usage has gone down and my resting/sleeping has gone up. I have numerous, around 7 incisions, mostly on my back. I am trying to recover which means resting often. It feels great to be home. Tonight I woke up coughing, which happens often, so I got up and figured I would post a little. I have been coughing up some blood so for right now we agree no exercise until coughing reduces. Today I tried to get so much done. I finally figured anything not done is for tomorrow or the next day. Tom is doing things I usually do so somethings are done that way.
I told him that I am concerned someone might come over and things won't be perfectly neat. He is not concerned about that because if they come to see us, how we are doing is more important. If they want to check the apartment for perfection we need at least a one week notice!!

Laury glad you are home. When will you find out about your tests? Tomorrow I go for an EGD, but I am still congested, no fever so I think they will do it.

Tasb, your apricots sound like they have really kept you busy.

This morning we had a Bob Cat running around the neighborhood. I don't know what else we can have here. Getting where I am afraid to go out after dark.

Laury, happy to hear you are home and resting lots. Good to see you checking in, but not the fact you are doing it because you can't sleep because you are coughing. I giggled when I read about what Tom said about if people are coming to visit your apartment. Good thought. Well at least he is able to keep up with some of the stuff and help you out too. Get lots of rest and heal as fast as you can. When do you find out more test results?

Jacqueline, a bobcat, you are in the wild aren't you? I wouldn't want to go out either.

Me, I kept my promise to myself (so far). I was actually looking forward to excising last night. I had to put it off for a bit because I had eaten a greasy burger for dinner, and knew I wouldn't feel well. I did get on the elliptical and did my PT exercises. Today was just lazying around the house all morning, went for my depo shot mid-morning and chatted with the health nurse for a long while. Then after lunch I took a quick nap, then went to the beach for the rest of the afternoon. The water wasn't too bad, was worried it would be freezing with the rain we had recently. I am a little sore all over and my weight is up from Friday, but I think it is because my muscles are sore. I find I weigh more when I have lactic acid built up in my muscles. My arms, shoulders and stomach hurt the most, but atleast I am not holding onto the walls to get up and down the stairs.

Jacqueline, I think I would be scared going out after dark where you live, also. I hope that you are feeling better.

tasb, I'm sorry that your body is sore. I hope you fel better soon.

For myself, I am in more pain than usual especially at the incision sites. There are about 7 of those. Normally on the pain scale going from 1 to 10 I score a 7 or 8. I am hitting strong 9+s. We have a prescription for a strong pain pill and Tom is picking them up this morning. I feel bad about not being stronger so I wouldn't need strong pain meds but I barely can walk. It hurts too much. I know that as soon as it heals more I can give them up. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Oh dear Laury, I hope the pain subsides as soon as you get some meds
into you. Pain can be strong and there's no need to feel like you aren't being
strong in your own way. My goodness, you are able to get to the computer
and many wouldn't feel up to that. Hang in there.

I won't have a connection again for a few days, but I wanted everyone to
know we've had an amazing trip to the Incan complex, Machu Picchu, The
weather was superb too. I'll write about it in the coming days and get it
    posted when I'm online again.

Hope everyone else is doing well in spite of bob cats (we saw an ocelot and
two pumas the other day) and apricots and any other of life's hiccups. icon_smile.gif

Laury, don't feel bad about being in that much pain and needing stronger meds. If you are already at a 7-8 for what your body goes through on a daily basis, then I am not surprised that you are at pain of 9 when you have 7 incisions. If you need the meds then you need them, don't feel bad about it at all. They will take your pain down to where you can stand it and maybe get some rest so you can heal. I bet you aren't getting much sleep because of the pain too.

Leggy Peggy, have fun. That must be a beautiful area.

Me, well I am keeping my promise to myself. Yesterday I did mow the garden walkways before lunch (about 15 minutes), then the beach for a little bit of swimming. Then last night I was bored silly so I went to check on the garden, with the thought of picking some peas (shelling and sugar snap) and ended up weeding for almost 1 1/2 hours. I got it almost all done, just too scared to weed in the strawberry patch because all the spider webs. So I was proud of myself for doing that. I was ready to write off my workout last night as my lower back was a little sore, but I promised myself I would keep up with it, and I did. I went on the elliptical for 30 minutes as I needed some cardio, then after I got off there I decided I really need to do my shoulder exercises. I was doing that when my band snapped (my second one to snap), but I got almost all of it done. I did have to stop my ball exercises as they focus on my legs and they were already too tired from all the bending in the garden.

Today, the day was spent in town shopping. I took the kids clothes shopping. We spend almost $300, and found a couple stores that are cheaper than Walmart (were we normally do our shopping, mainly out of laziness). But my kids were happy with what they bought. I also splurged and bought two new shirts (same design but different colors), a pair of yoga pants and a sheer skirt with shorts underneath. Now I just got to get slim enough to look good in that skirt, and the little black dress I bought back in June.

Leggy Peggy, I'm glad that you check in when you can. I love reading your blog and looking at the photos.

tasb, you seem to be doing very well with exercise!

Today has been a successful day in one way. I got a maintenance issue in our apartment taken care of. The fan over our stove and oven died around July 15. Tom started calling in a maintenance request on July 15. He called every Monday since then. The request would supposedbly be taken down but nobody ever came to do the work. This week he even called the complex manager on Tuesday. We still haven't heard from her. This morning I decided to e-mail head of the Gainesville Housing Authority. This is a governmental apartment complex for mostly elderly and disabled.
Around 1PM today the previous head of maintenance rang our doorbell. He measured the fan and fixed it. He had been replaced and we didn't know the new manager. The previous head of maintenance, Vince, told us that whenever we have a problem with the apartment to call him directly. He will either fix it or get someone out here!!
My body is still not doing well. I have, a few days ago, been able to take a shower. Today, however, it hurts to stand up so we had to do another sponge bath. I am so pleased that I have a husband who is willing to help when I need it. I now have stopped taking my normal pain pills and just take 4 stronger pain pills a day. I do also take my sleeping pills. My doctor has instructed us that I need one every night because the normal pain is hard to sleep through.
I found out that it might be some time before I hear what is going on in my body. The surgeon hasn't even told the lung doctor what is going on yet. After the surgeon tells the lung doctor, I will get an appointment with the lung doctor for explanations.

Laury, Tom is such a wonderful guy. Thankfully he is there to take care of you when you need it most. Way to go on his part and yours for getting the rest and the meds you need. Take extra good care of yourself and hoping that you start getting answers soon.

Me, well I took a day off exercising. I was totally bagged Wednesday after shopping. I just needed rest, so I took the day off. Yesterday looked to be another right-off. I spent almost 4 hours in the kitchen. I bought lots of food too when clothes shopping and I got some zucchini out of the garden. So I spent just over 3 hours making casseroles. I got 7 meals (6 went to the freezer and we had one for dinner). Then I did the dishes. After I was done I could barely stand, my poor feet were hurting. But then I did spend most of the day on the couch. But I was able to get in my exercises last night. I did cut out half of my leg and all my crunches as the rest of the family was heading to bed. So far today I am baking bread.

It is so good to hear from everyone. Laury, like Tasb said it is wonderful that Tom is so good to you and understands your needs and is willing to help you. Tasb sounds like you have been cooking up a storm but then that is nothing new for you. Also, sounds like you are back on track with exercise.

As for me, I went Wed. to have the EGD an the anesthesiologist refused me, told me I was too sick to be put to sleep. So I came home went back to see my PCP, he agreed with the anesthesiologist and changed my antibiotic once again. Today has been so, so. I didn't feel great, tried to take a nap but the phone kept ringing. Then Sarah, Mark, Andie and Xander came up and Mark grilled out. Don't worry about them getting sick because I think Becky and I bought caught it from either Sarah or Xander to start with. I just hope we don't pass it back to them. I have to get to feeling better this week. I have so much I need to do.

Glad to see everyone posting and Peggy, I too am glad you check in when you can.

I just popped in to see how everyone is doing. It's been a long time but I think of you all often.

I'm doing well. I started a streak on the 1st, so this is day 19. Minimum exercise is one mile per day + whatever to equal at least 30 mins. I'm in my calorie range, which at this writing is 1200 - 1550 per day. All my other nutrients are good, too. (chol, healthy fats, carbs, sodium & fiber) It's a balancing act with the nutrients but I have finally broken the plateau and am back to losing.

Have a wonderful rest of August gang. Just barely a month of official summer left. I know you all can do whatever you set your minds to.

tasb, you seem to be doing great with shopping, cooking, baking and exercising some!!

    Jacqueline, feel better soon!!

Granny Moses, it's good to read that you are doing well with exercising and watching calories.

I am trying to switch from a narcotic 4 times a day to mostly using Tylenol 3 and Ultram. I used to tale those 3 times a day. I now take them 2 times a day and a narcotic at night. I have a great deal of pain. I am still not up to exercising. I do lose about a 1/2 pound a day. Today seems to be a day that my skin where the stitches were are burning. I took my usual pain meds at 7. If I can wait until about 1, maybe I will take the stronger pain pill.

Jacqueline, sorry to hear that you are still really sick and that your appointment was postponed. I hope your new meds are working for you.

Granny Moses, great to see you. Sounds like you are doing well with your streak. Keep up the great work.

Lori, sorry to hear you are in lots of pain still. Ouch all those stitches burning. Make sure to get Tom to check them out to make sure it is just healing burning and not anything else. Good you are keeping up with your pain meds and reduced the strength. It's alright if you aren't exercising because you are healing, you don't want to over-do it and end up putting back your healing. All in good time you will be back walking and out doing me.

Me, I have kept up my exercise this week. Better than last week. I have definitely gotten stronger from all the exercising I have done this past year. All though it has been on and off exercising. I didn't take long to get back to close to where I was back in June. When I was on the elliptical the first time back I was ready to quit after 10 minutes, but I did 30. I am almost at the point of that feeling comfortable again. I am also back to doing 2 rounds of physio exercises and I was able to do a 1 min 37 second Plank last night. So I am feeling so much better about things. I should really fiddle around with my elliptical this morning and try to figure out what is making that darn awful noise. I have narrowed it down the the left side as I could even feel it in the pedal. I know it isn't the foot pad, so I will try and loosen and tighten things to see if it makes a difference. It is kind of distracting the noise and feeling it.
