Hey gang, hope everyone is having a nice week-end. Yesterday was beautiful here but today has started out with rain and they say it is going to rain all week. I was hoping to get my back porch fixed this week, but don't know since it it the new roof that is leaking. I get so upset when I think about how this contractor did me last year. Long story short the roof over my patio and car port was leaking so I replaced it and now it leaks worse than it did. I am just glad that I did not decide to do a closed in porch back there. I'd have a 3 seasons porch that leaked.

Not doing well exercise or eating wise, not lost any more weight but I will prevail some way or another. I am having an EGD done on Wednesday to see if my stomach is the way it is suppose to be.

Now, I have resigned as forum host but said I'd stick around until they found someone. Doesn't look like folks are jumping to host forums around here anymore, so have no idea how long I will be around. Even when I am not hosting I will still check in here as long as I can or will be back in winter. Since my dad passed away I have been really enjoying life and I do not want to be tied down to food.com anymore. I really just want to be able to go and do as I please.

Sure know how you feel. Hope a replacement comes along soon.

Jacqueline, I am praying for you and your EGD! I can understand resigning as a forum host. I asked Tom if I can try hosting again. He doesn't want me to especially now when I may be having surgery fairly soon. I am going by his direction. I will willingly help whoever we get as a forum host.

    Have fun this week everyone!!

I changed the date of my EGD just had some stuff, nothing major going on and didn't feel like I should do it now. It will be Aug. 14. Hope everyone has a great day. Laury I don't blame Tom for not wanting you to host again. You need to take care of yourself.

Jacqueline, Sorry to hear you have stepped down as host. But thankfully you are taking care of yourself and having time for yourself. Which is a good thing.

Laury, thankfully you are listening to Tom and taking care of yourself too. Noone needs the stress of hosting if it is counter-productive to their health.

Me, I have been sticking around home this past week. My kids or should I say kid, just the middle child, has been whining to go to the beach. With the rain we had the other night the water will be freezing so no use going yet. Plus I am just trying to get caught up on things around the house and yard. I neglected so many things the past while. But the "lawn" (not much grass left in there), is mowed. The garden is weeded. The house is fairly decent. I finished up preserving the 2 flats raspberries I picked up this weekend. I made 2 pies, 1 batch jam (8 half pints), 1 batch dehydrated (1 1/4 qts dried), and froze the rest (3 cookie sheets full).

Yesterday when we were weeding the garden the kids stopped and were looking down the hill. When I finally realized what they were up too they said they thought they heard a kitten. I looked down and seen a small cat, then I heard the mews of a kitten so I went down to look and sure enough there was a kitten only about 1 week old with the momma cat. I tried to coax her to come to me, but I think she is a wild cat, she wouldn't come near. I even got the kids to get me some food. But that didn't help either. She ended up walking away, trying to coax me away from her kitten. I let them be and came in for lunch. She moved her kitten in that time. I hope somewhere safer than under a sage bush. She did come back later and ate the food I left for her. Too bad the momma cat didn't trust me, I would have given her a safer place to raise her kitten. Even if it was just in the shed.

Jacqueline, I will miss you as a host. I understand that you want time to yourself.

tasb, you have done well taking care of your family, your house and your yard. It's wonderful that you get your children to help you with the garden. I hope the cat found a safe place for her kitten and herself.

I did hear from my lung doctor. Even the specialists are not sure what's going on in my lungs. I will have to have thoriac surgery which is an in-patient procedure. They will be using laser cameras and tools after cutting a few holes into my skin. I have not mentioned it much because the option is not something I want to do. I have had a few days of tears and not coping well. I just agreed yesterday to let the social worker in the lung department refer my case. I am not sharing this information everywhere and I am trusting you not to share it.

I hope everyone is having a great week and will have a good weekend.

Laury, although it is scary I am certain things will be fine. You are in my prayers and will remain there.

Me, I am waiting on another round of thunder storms. I am so sick of all this rain, heat and humidity. I know it could be worse though and for that I am thankful.

Thinking of you Laury, and feeling that everything will be fine, even if it's
scary. The doctors want the best for you in the long run.

Bummer about the storms Jacqueline. Hang in there.

Laury, I hope your surgery yields the results you need to get answers on how to help you. Sending you healing energy. It is stressful waiting for surgery, but probably more so when you don't have the answers. Hoping all goes well with surgery.

Jacqueline, you could send me some rain, just no lightening with it ok. icon_lol.gif We had a day of rain here. The weeds are looking very dry around here, so any lightening could mean a forest fire. Which would be good for fire fighters, not everyone else. Sounds like our fire fighters are quite idle this year. Which is a good thing mother nature wise, but most of them depend on the income and subsequent Unemployment Insurance, as an income.

Me, I haven't done too much the last half of the week. Me and the kids went to town on Wednesday, silly hubby suggested that morning if I am ever bored that I could take my vehicle in for an oil change. Well Wednesdays are Farmer's Market days. So I went in right away. I took $60 cash with me and picked up 10 lb blueberries, 1 romaine, 1 pint blackberries, 3 bags baby potatoes (assorted kinds) and some baked snacks for me and the kids. When we were loading up the suv, my son was wondering what became of the building next to the parking lot we were in, used to be a movie store. He looked and turns out it was the government building, so we went there and picked up his SIN card. Now I can put him to work (insert evil laugh). Then that reminded me to get his new driver's book, so he can study up for next year. Then finally off to an oil change. Then shopping and home. Was a good waste of a day. It rained too. Thursday I put most of the blueberries into the dehydrator, and it wasn't all that hot out so we stayed home. Good thing too my shoulder is killing me from Tuesday. Today we went to the beach, I sat on the dock and watched the kids. Seen a co-worker or should I say ex-co-worker, she told me she wouldn't be coming back in September, I already knew it, I seen all her stuff was gone. And she doesn't like our new boss, mainly because she knows she can't manipulate her, like our last 2 bosses.

Oh forgot about Tuesday, I did go look for momma cat, but she is no where to be found. Too bad. Then the afternoon me and the kids went to the beach. I hung out with another mother and went floating around on the lake, got pushed off the dock twice, (once by a kid that might be coming back to my school, I think he will be getting "special" plates of food from me if he does, no I wouldn't poison him, just to worry him), then the other time was another kid, I actually jumped in, she had a hurt arm and I was going to pull her in as punishment, but there was another kid in the water right behind me, we would have landed on her and that kid just got a cast off her leg a couple weeks ago). Then I also took a swim out to the dock with the other mom. Well all of this I had to haul myself out of the water 4 times, the third time took me 3 attempts because my right shoulder is weak. So now it hurts from all that. My fault really if I hadn't gone into the deep end to begin with I wouldn't have been pushed in. It was fun though.

Tasb, you totally amaze me at all you do. I mowed with one sister's help, my yard, her yard and then our other sister's. Had a guy here that did a lot of work around the outer edge of all our yards and cut down a bunch of trees. Kudzu is just about to take over so he was trying to get what was getting closer to our houses. That stuff grows faster than anything I have ever seen. Wasn't really in my yard yet but was getting close.

I also had another experience with the lawn mower that I'd rather not have had. I am about to quit mowing and just live in the weeds. icon_smile.gif

Hope everyone is fine and had a great week-end.

Laury I am not use to you not checkin' in every day, hope all is well.

Jacqueline, I am not checking in daily because I have nothing good to report. I have gained a few pounds because I no longer can exercise. I have to use oxygen almost every day which is discouraging. We are getting rain, thunder and lightening every day and I am also tired of it also. Good job on getting the lawns mowed!!

Peggy, I hope that you are enjoying your travels.

tasb, you are always keeping busy whether it's gardening, cooking or canning. I'm sorry that your shoulder is so sore. My doctor recommended something called Icy Hot or some such name that you can put on the area which hurts and it kind of makes the pain go away. She suggested I recommend it to people even though it won't work on my body since it hurts from my neck to the bottom of my feet.

Jacqueline, thank you for saying that. I will try to check in more. I feel kind of scared that my doctor won't be happy with me not exercising. She did explain in the past that Tom is playing her part for day to day things and he has said no exercising until we figure out what is going on in my lungs.

Good morning! I'm checking in, although I don't have much to report. I'm still walking every day. Yesterday, it was so warm and humid early in the day that I drove to the mall to walk indoors. It was either that or I was going to skip walking, so I chose to do that. It's only a few miles away. I may do that every once in a while until the summer heat fades. The weather was better this morning, so I did my regular walk.
My weight seemed sort of stuck in the last month or two, and I have to admit that maybe my eating wasn't as good as it could have been. I think I've been a bit more careful in July. I'm waiting to the end of the week to weigh, and I hope to finally be down a pound or two.
    Take care, everyone.

Checking in to say howdy and complain how tired I am. LOL I had 17 for dinner last night, was only suppose to have been 11 but we gained a few along the way. Then I got up this morning and went to Knoxville, TN for my yearly mammogram, so left at 9:15 AM and arrived back home around 6 PM. No shopping just straight there and straight back other than stopping to eat and for my sister to buy her some Krispy Kreme donuts.

Now on the up side yesterday I weighed and had lost 4 lbs. hope they are still off in a couple of days. I don't weigh on the day after I travel because of fluid retention.
