Hope everyone is having a great day. My had been productive. Got my grass mowed and most of the trim work. Apparently there was a bear in the yard next to mine. No one lives there and they do not keep the grass mowed. Spot, my cat, came flying out of that yard with his ears pinned back, I had never seem him run that fast. He sat at the back door and cried until I let him in. When he came in he hid forever, then finally went an sat on the 3 seasons porch, he came out and ate about 3 hours later but has not asked to go back outside. Bears are everywhere around here and I am so sick of them.

I am not completely back on track but getting there.

Peggy, actually we have become the bear capital. Last week they celebrated the 10th Annual Black Bear Festival. The reason I don't like them is they come out of the mountains and get in your garbage so you have to keep it inside in the Spring, Summer and Fall. My facebook page is full, almost every morning of people posting the bears were out last night. One has been on my sister's back porch and left its nose print on her door.

I hadn't realized there were that many bears around Kentucky, either, Peggy!!
Today I am getting all 3 walks in hopefully before Tom is even awake. I hope he goes out for a while today. I think he will go at least to Burger King, about 2 blocks away even though he wouldn't have to cross a street. I have been wanting a hamburger for quite a while and he doesn't feel like cooking anything that will heat the apartment.

I love the idea of bears in the neighbourhood. We have kangaroos.
A couple of weeks ago at the coast, we had kookaburras visiting.

Laury, so glad you are getting your walks in.

Hello Everyone. Hope all is going good.

Peggy, to answer your question, I was basically sick since Oct. I had ever cold that was around I would go maybe 2 weeks between colds. Sounds like you had a great weekend.

Jacqueline, I wouldn't blame kitty for running like a bat out of hell. I would too. Happy to hear all went well at the new Dr's.

Laury, happy to hear you are getting in your walks.

Me, I have stayed faithful to my workout plan. Day 23 Squat Challenge is done. I am debating on a Push-up Challenge next, 7 weeks to work myself up too 100. Might be too ambitious. I am noticing lots of leg musclrs and even shoulder ones.

tasb, have you spoken to your doctor about the amount of colds you had? The reason I ask is sometimes either sinus problems or allergies can act as colds.Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference. I know that you are around children, yours and the schools. That would make it harder to stay healthy.
You are impressing me with all the exercise challenges you do!!

I am doing okay. I got so much done yesterday with Tom being not home. I hope to keep working hard when he's not home. I got 2 walks in today and hope to get my 3'rd one in before Tom wakes up.

I don't have a Dr. been without one for over 5 years now. Which makes taking care of myself hard. I usually wait for a "good" day to leave work because trying to get into a walk-in clinic means I am taking a whole day off work. Even if it means I am ready rip my face off for a couple days. This year was bad for colds, even teachers who rarely get sick were as sick if not sicker than me. Plus this year I was taking lots of days off for my son's appts.

I am doing these challenges so I have less excuses to exercise. When I was going to pass up a workout I had to remind myself I would be doing 6 days straight if I wanted a second rest day, instead of 3. Plus the one I am doing now is showing results. I lost only 4 lbs, my measurements haven't really gone down either, but the muscle I am finding is encouraging. Plus my left hip, my right shoulder hurt way less.

Peggy, I hope Kangaroos are not as destructive as bears, I can't put a bird feeder out because if I do they bend the shepherd's hook to the ground and stomp on the feeder to get the seeds out. Same with humming bird feeders. Can't put out my garbage until the day the truck runs, which is only once a week, or else they are into it and I have to pick it up. I am hoping an article that was in yesterday's paper shows up in the online version of the paper so I can post the link to it. The high school mascot is the Black Bear and when I searched for the article all I got was sports info on the school. I just remembered an article from a couple of years ago, that you might enjoy. Bobby Koger that killed the bear was my contractor that did my porch, one of the bathrooms and my new roof on my carport/patio.

Now, my new direction in weight loss must be working. Not loosing big but a few ounces every day and that will eventually add up. So far down 3 lbs.

Tasp, I really would love to follow your example in exercise, wonder if my hips would quit hurting. Well, they might if I could tolerate the pain to do more than a few.

Laury, glad you managed to get some things accomplished. Miss everyone else, and wish some of the older posters would come back.

Jacqueline, bears definitely aren't cuddly. We are kind of lucky here, although we are rural we don't have too many encounters with bears. I do see black bear poo when me and my son were out jogging in the summer. It was near an old house where there are lots of Saskatoon Berry bushes. I actually had to take bigger steps to avoid stepping on the poop. Good thing we never ran into one. Even though I had a cell phone on me I was just under 500 meters out of cell phone range, if I make it to the top of the hill I could have cell service. Someone actually found a black bear head and hide on the side of the road last week, a baby one, no one knows what happened to the rest of it, since no one around here eats bear. Happy to hear your new direction has come up with a loss. Good for you.

Me, well last night was a rest night, thinking I kinda needed it too. Today the whole family got out into the garden, 2 hours later all that we had to plant today was done, and the lawn and garden walkways were mowed too. We still need some corn and romaine seeds. Also I said we would wait a couple weeks before putting in the onions. Last year we were almost a month late putting in the garden and we had less onion maggots. So that is my plan this year. I am hoping to add cardio to my workouts, I am down 4 lbs since the beginning of the year, I was down 6 but I gained 2 back. So although I am exercising it just isn't enough to come to a loss.

I sure hope others come to join us too. The summer always seems the slowest here. Everyone outside, busy with family I guess.

Thanks for the link to the article Jacqueline. Very interesting read.

Kangaroos might eat your garden, but they aren't vicious. Every now and
then one really does punch a person and, if cornered, they can kill a dog.
But mostly they bounce away from humans. But on the road it's a different
story. Kangaroos are definitely a road hazard.

Peggy here is a link to the article I was wanting you to see. I agree with a lady on FB this article fails to mention that the bears have made us victims in our own home. I will not go outside my house after dark.

    http://harlandaily.com/bookmark/22701822/article-Black%20Bear%20Invasion-%20The%20public%E2%80%99s%20responsibility#.UaLL5CTX4v8.facebook

I personally do not think that we should have to keep our garbage in the house for an entire week, I also don't think that I should have to bring my grill inside my house either. Nor do I like the fact that I can't feed the birds. The birds were something I really enjoyed.

To make it easy on myself, I am responding to each post so some people may get more than one response.

tasb, I am guessing it must be very hard to not have a doctor. No matter how bad financially things were getting we both have had to keep having a doctor. I understand now why you do the challenges. I have started doing 20 squats a day unless I am about to fall. You are doing well with losing 4 pounds! Good job!

Jacqueline, I enjoyed reading the article you mentioned. Good job with losing 4 pounds!

tasb, I think it wonderful that your whole family worked together on the garden!!

Leggy Peggy, I enjoyed reading your blog article.

Jacqueline, another interesting article. I would agree with you that everything people have to do to keep the bears away is a little much.

I have not been feeling well which is why I have been lurking. I can't tell you what's wrong but I am constantly coughing and achy. I hope I start feeling better because doing my walks is difficult with all the coughing. I have one more to do today and then I can stop until Friday. I will try to be here more often. I feel as if I should help out but I need more resting time.

I think everyone needs to be here ONLY as often as they can.
We all have challenges—health, family, work—and those have to come first.
Don't stress. This is a fun place, not a job. So do what you can and don't
feel that you need to do anything more. Rest is good for you too. Sending hugs.
