Lesley, my balance sucks also! I think I will love Yoga if it makes me less likely to fall.

    tasb, feel better soon!!

Jacqueline, I agree with you about listing members. I also agree about goals. My goals tend to change when I never know what my body can do. Right now, we are eating healthy food with snacks being mostly fruit and vegetables. I do attempt to walk my 30 minutes 4 days a week. I did manage to do it today.

Good morning peeps, I am so happy to be alive and well on this beautiful Sunday morning. I slept all night in my bed last night, yes I said in my bed. I feel 100% better than I have been feeling and I know it is due to a decent sleep. I go back to the doctor tomorrow, I am one month ahead of when they said I'd be able to sleep in bed. I pray that the stablizer/sling gets removed tomorrow for good and I just continue to progress. I hope to get to start working with light weights after tomorrow, too.

Still interested in Yoga, anything that helps my balance to be better.

Hope an pray that all of you are well and have a wonderful day. I am off to take a shower and see what I can find to get into. I'd so love to be able to drive, another thing, I hope I can do after tomorrow.

Jacqueline - your Wiifit Yoga may work very well without any further investment. I would recommend a mat so you don't slip. They are pretty cheap. The DVD I have is Body and Soul - Yoga for Beginners by Barbara Benagh. I like the slow measured. pace and that you can just so as much as you can handle. You can skip all over and do bits and pieces up to your ability. I got it on sale for about $10. I have never moved beyond the beginner stage and I don't know if I will icon_smile.gif I'm just happy to gain the flexibility and some strength. Maybe as I improve I will get in to more challenging poses. Maybe not. icon_wink.gif

I'm really pleased to hear that you slept so well and are feeling great but please don't over do it and set yourself back. That would truly suck

Yoga would be so beneficial. I think I'd also like to look into a class. I've rented videos but can't seem to get interested in them. I need structure on this one. I'm part of the unbalanced club!

Have a great week, everyone. I know you all can go forward acheiving your goal.

Jacqueline, I am so happy to hear you were able to sleep in bed and doing better than you imagined. I hope you get some good news soon. I guess that ouchie you did at PT didn't set you back after all.

Dib's, congrats on your new treadmill. How is your new eating plan going? I would keep the wine too, I like to have my drinks when hubby gets around to buying some. We have been going 2 weeks.

Laury, I hope you are doing better, sucks when your body does that. What excellent news on your O2 levels. Keep up your awesome work.

Bonnie, I hope you are fully recovered from your fall. Ouch.

Alisa Lea, good job on the 2 lbs. Keep up your hard work of work and trying to fit in Zumba.

Granny Moses, sorry to hear your fitbit didn't work.

K9, when I am on my elliptical I put my earbuds in and listen to only upbeat music. It is what gets me going and keeps me going on those 90 minute workouts. I am using my phone right now for music, I have a workout playlist and keep it on shuffle that way I can't predict what song is coming up, I don't even listen to music at work because I don't want to spoil it as a exercise motivator.

Me, I am finally able to breath without looking like a weirdo with my mouth hanging open. So I got exercising today. I only did my Jillian workout and some old PT exercises because man are my arms wimpy. I am having a hard time remembering how to do some of them as it has been a couple years since I got them. I do need to get a new balance ball, my third one has gone flat. I think the kittens may have attacked it when they were here. I can't hear any air escaping when I pumped it right up, but by the next day it was soft.

Sounds like everyone is doing good and starting to feel better. Have to say I am too. We are still celebrating Carnival here and that means load noise and lots of partying on the streets. The parades run right in front of our complex and are soooo loud. This one started at 3AM and is still going on now at 9:21AM. This is one country that really likes to party but it sure is hard on your rest.

It's so crowded on the streets that DH's work has to close the office from today until next Wed when it ends.

I really would like to try the yoga but will have to pick up a video to do it as even if I did find a group here I really can't understand when the talk so it wouldn't work. So I need a mat and blocks???

Tomorrow is the BIG parade and it'll probably go on all day, it's very extravagant and the costumes can cost up in the thousands of dollars. This is so important to the Trini's that I've even been told many take out loans to pay for the costumes. Strange in country that doesn't have that much of an income for most of the population.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Whoo Hoo! Nice to start the week off with peppy, determined folks. icon_biggrin.gif

Have you planned to succeed today? I think I missed some pages or something when it came to February goals. I see lots of moving and shaking going on, and am celebrating your victories with you as I read about them.

It feels good to be warm for the first time in daysdispite the snow. Instead of trying to get warm under the covers I was up, eating a healthy breakfast, and getting 40 mins of exercise in. I'm energized! I am rededicating myself to the Mediterranean sytle of eating. Lots of freggies, healthy oils, protein sources more from beans, legumes, rather than animal sources.

Have a fantastic day. You are worth taking care of!

Morning everyone. Sounds like a we are going to have a wonderful week. I leave for the doctor in a few minutes and won't be back until later this evening. I so hope to get this stablizer off my arm today. If not I guess I will live with it longer. Hope he ups my exercises so I can get to using this arm more.

Probably won't check back in tonight but hope everyone is having a great day.

Jacqueline, I am thrilled that you have been able to sleep in your bed instead of your recliner. I know when I used to have to sleep in a recliner, I got little sleep. I loved the fact that you are healing faster than was predicted.

tasb, I like that you only listen to music while you are on the elliptical. I'm sure it helps motivate you to keep going. I'm happy that you are starting to feel better.

Bonnie, have fun with the parades!

Granny Moses, 40 minutes of exercise is wonderful!! I am glad that it's warmer. You are worth taking care of yourself, also!!

Jacqueline, I hope you get your stabilizer off also. I hope he adds exercise for you also.

For me, I went to the dentist to try the mold for the denture. The denture lab wanted to make sure it fits correctly. It does!!
While I was there, my sister called to tell me she couldn't drive me back home because she was extremely dizzy. I then had to find another way home because my body can not even walk one block. I phoned Tom and we discussed what I could do in the situation. I first figured I'd have to get a cab, which would be very expensive. I then called the mini-bus. They are not supposed to help in this situation. To take the mini-bus I am required to call the day before. The dispatch person heard what was going on and got a mini-bus to pick me up!!!
I have already called the Mini-bus manager and praised dispatch!!
I walked 2 10s before I went this morning. I was supposed to do one more. Tom has asked me not to because of how stressed I am.
There are a ton of things going on here which I can't talk about. Tom has medical appointments, I have appointments and stress is very high. I'm sorry I don't spend as much time as I should here but I just can't.
    Have a good day everyone!!

What a nuisance Laury! So glad that the mini-bus was able to get you.
It sounds like you are under a lot of stress so b extra good to yourself. Stress does nasty hormonal things that really mess with your health. If nothing else just take a few minutes for some calming breaths. grouphug.gif

Oh Laury, I am so impressed and so pleased that the mini bus dispatcher
'heard' and responded to your need. This is when service people can really
make all the difference—following their heart and common sense instead of
the rules. Yay for that person, and yay for you to have that problem solved.

Stress is awful—makes you feel like a wound up spring ready to go off.
I find that it helps to sit down, close my eyes and breathe deeply for about
five minutes. I know it might sound silly but I have my mind picture a
    beautiful landscape.

Laury, Please don't feel you don't spend enough time here. We are not suppose to spend every waking minute here, I check in once or twice a day, if something comes in that needs attention it can wait until one of us checks in or someone else sees it. These forums are not for emergencies.

I just got back from the doctor a little while ago am very disappointed, was hoping to get my stabilizer off today, but nope two more weeks. Plus when I told him I wasn't wearing it all the time he told me I needed to so back to being miserable again. I have also started having spams or cramps in my left shoulder, he said that happened a lot when the other shoulder has had surgery. He and I both home it clears up once I get this other back to normal.

Have a great night and everyone take time to spell the roses.

K9Owned that is a good idea to just breath calmly!

Leggy Peggy, I think if I was a more difficult person the Mini-bus might not have heard the problem. I am one of their easiest pick-ups. There are people who make drivers wait up to 15 minutes so they can get dressed. With me, the second they get here I am ready to go. I don't believe in making them wait for me.
You had great ideas to relax also.

Jacqueline, thank you for saying that there is no reason to check in constantly. I am sorry that your doctor wants you to keep your stabilizer on for 2 more weeks. Just think it will be off soon. In 10 years, or even 5 years, you won't remember that you had to wear it 2 more weeks. If it won't matter then, it won't matter now.

Today I went to the oral surgeon for a consultation. I will be having the roots of 2 teeth removed on February 22. For now,
I coughed all night and again I am coughing a lot today. Tom has requested I take my Kindle and go into the bedroom.. I doubt I will sleep but being quiet in the bedroom while I watch TV and read seems like a good idea. My throat is already fairly sore. I hope that I am not getting ill. I almost fell a few times today.

OMG!!!! Did I do a major boo boo today. It's the big ending to Carnival and I was wanting to show off some of my baking skills to friends who invited us over (this will teach me to try to show off icon_mad.gif ) Any ways made home made french vanilla ice cream and Homemade Magic Shell (Ice Cream topping) to go alone with Mardi Gras King Cake now thought that would be perfect for a Carnival party.

Well, I should have thought twice for 3 big reasons. One - I had to sub several items as don't have here. The can available was small, not large so smaller ring, didn't have the colored sugar so just used sprinkles, 2 the time was short so had to rush. And 3 and the big one I've NEVER seen a King Cake let alone tasted one or knew what it was.

Anyhow, was progressing along, stuffed the cake, making changes and went to make the glaze - looked at the plastic container I had the powdered sugar in to check how much I had left, this time had my glasses on, when I made the filling I didn't bother (rushed on time remember) and got the shock of my life. It was CORN STARCH, the sugar was still on the shelf. So my lovely, adjusted cake was filled with cream cheese and corn starch icon_twisted.gif Now I'm looking at this cake, and know it's going to be a major disaster and I'm soooo mad at myself. Can't believe I did this, so guess it's just going to be ice cream and chocolate.

Laury, take care and things will settle down in due time, Jac you MUST do what your doctor orders even if it's not what you want. You sure don't want anymore surgery because of not following orders.

Take care all, DH is back to work tomorrow and things here in Trinidad should calm down a lot

I feel your pain Bonnie. Last night I made italian sausages and peppers with mushrooms, onions and tomatoes to serve on rice. To boost the flavour a titch I wanted to add some tomato paste. I buy it concentrated in a tube. I also buy anchovy paste in a tube. Yep, used the wrong tube.
It was definitely a flavour booster buy NOT the one I was hoping for. icon_redface.gif
