    Thank you, Molly! I wish our many ex-pats would look in here to watch that.

    I have never attempted koeksisters. It is such a simple sweet, really, almost like a syrupy doughnut, but there IS a knack to it.

    A good koeksister has a brown, crunchy, syrupy outer layer, and a soft, (syrupy!) inner. Koeksisters overwhelm with its sweetness -- too much for me -- but they remain a very popular "street food" item. A food icon.
