Oh thanks Red that did it, now I want to make it maybe tomorrow, wonder why it showed the right title? That done Woo Hoo - I had success braiding thanks to the video and all the help - I made Swiss - Zopf
Afraid I forgot it in the oven to long and it got to dark (maybe burnt) but the BRAID came out lovely - I'm so happy, I can finally braid.
can't show you until later as I'm on "Photo Time Out" and there's a delay in mine posting but hopefully it'll be here tomorrow and I can show you - I'm one happy baker right now, even if I do have burnt bread.[/img]

Sorry about that, Bonnie.
Red, thanks for pointing out the error in my link, I should have previewed it.

That's OK Len, I just really want to make that bread as it's so pretty. Here's a photo (it finally published) of the one I did make - even if I let it get to dark it makes a great sandwich loaf:

That looks like a fine loaf, Bonnie. Did you have any issues with the recipe?

No it was really simple, the only thing I messed up on was leaving it in the oven to long so it got to dark and I'll NEVER use those plastic pans again - they are awful and stretch out of shape when the bread rises. But I was really pleased with the braid - the best I've ever done and it'll only get better I'm sure. Next I want to make your recipe but have to get some oatmeal first.

Just finsihed Cran-Apple Walnut Cake (Lighter Version) and it really turned out great for a lighter recipe, lots of flavor and oh so moist

You're baking up a storm, Bonnie. Both products look great. The braid was a success I see.

Yes Red, I'm thrilled with the braid and yes - lots of baking, but that's what I do for fun. I do give at least half or more away to neighbors as we can't or shouldn't eat it all, but it's so much fun. The braiding I'm really excited about. Now want to try Len's recipe but first have to find store that has the oats.

Lesson learned: yeast helps speed up bread making (duh).
I made a poolish with a large part of the flour in a recipe and 3 pnches of yeast. The next day, I tried raising the dough using only the yeast in the poolish which had doubled or tripled in volume. Took forever! Much slower than a sourdough recipe. The results were good, but I'll likely not do that again. The recipe I used was: Tips for Making Holey Artisan White Bread

YUM, love that crusty outside and soft, holey (is that a word) inside.
