Here is a picture of a batch of Gingerbread I made at work, showing what I use to mix the dough, the dinky mixer, the spatula, and my gloved hand. This is a triple batch. The smaller of the batches I made this year.
Bread and Buns made on Christmas Eve, after asking a question and not waiting for an answer. The buns were scaled at 75 grams each. Oh and the Pumpkin Pie, made with fresh pumpkin puree. I make it in October/November and store it in the freezer. The only way I will eat anything pumpkin. I hate canned pumpkin.
Close up of the buns, only MIL ate a whole one and the girls shared one for Christmas Dinner. Me, hubby and DS wanted to fill ourselves up on everything else instead. Bread is a everyday item around here, turkey, stuffing and sweet potatoes aren't . They made great sandwich buns on Boxing Day, may squish them down a little more next time for more surface area.

As usual tasb great photos and a wonderful turn out.
I've tried braiding a few times with no luck, I always figured I could do that as I've always braided mine and my kids hair with no problem. WELL, braiding bread must be differant as it sure hasn't worked for me - but I do love the end results when done right

Bonnie, take a look at this youtube video, it explains and demonstrates the 3 strand braid very clearly.

I hope everyone had a great first day of the year
I tried Peter Reinhart's San Francisco Sourdough today and my wife Charlotte made some terrific cornbread to go with the black-eyed peas (for luck) and the pork loin that spent the afternoon in the smoker.

Len, that was a great video. After watching it realized my big mistake has always been trying to braid from the top down instead of half, flipping and then the rest. Can't wait to try it out. While I was there also had to watch the 6 strand braid - and OMG - was THAT confusing. But also interesting, people working with this stuff are really artists.

Bonnie, I'm glad that was helpful. My problem was not realizing I only had to take the outside strand over the middle and only the middle. I'm braiding all the time now.

Interesting videos, did you check out the 5 strand one too. Now that one would take practice. Kinda grossed out that the student beside the camera coughed and didn't turn away from the table.

Couldn't wait to share this one with you even if it is one of my posted recipes! It was a hit with DH who usually doesn't even want to try something a little differant - but he sure requested seconds of this one.

I love these, Bonnie! Unfortunately, Mr Grumpy is in a "don't try to feed me any corn" mood.
Did you post the photo in Food Photos? It's a great photo.

You have some real nice looking loaves there, Red, I can almost taste it!
Bonnie, I've never seen a pancake topped like that but it looks delicious, I'd eat it.
Tonight I made a 4 strand braid. I watched the video and thought I had it down pat but when I was 3/4 done I was looking at it with a befuddled look on my face. I undid it and re-did it. I need to work on it a bit but the finished loaf looks OK. I dunno, I might stick with the 3 strand braid but you never know, I like the way a slice of braided bread pulls apart when I eat it and the 4 strand braid should be better.

I think it's it's lovely - by the way, that "round" braided on the video looked pretty interesting too - I love that video and want to keep it for future use - how do you save "Utube"?
I also never had pancakes (savory) like that but they are really good.
