Fudge Crinkles (A Great 4 Ingredient Cake Mix Cookie)

Hi, I went out and bought BC cake mix, but it comes in 15.25 oz. The recipe calls for 18.25. Am I supposed to buy a second box and try to measure 3 oz from it? No brand comes in 18.25; they probably downsized to compensate for inflation....?

You have it exactly right. The food companies downsize their product size instead of raising the price. (Well ok they sometimes do both.)

I did a quick scan of the most recent reviews and I don't see that anyone had a problem following the recipe using the smaller amount. A few mention cutting back on the oil a bit.

    I hope that helps

No, you don't need to buy a second box....you can just go to their website and get the "adjusted" measurements for the smaller sized box of cake mix.

Updated recipe for the 15 1/2 oz box of cake mix......... Here is an updated recipe from the Betty Crocker website.......... Fudge Crinkles .......... 1 (15.25oz) box Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® devil's food cake mix .......... 1/3 cup vegetable oil .......... 2 eggs .......... 1 teaspoon vanilla .......... Powdered sugar

Hi, thanks for the reply. I did go ahead with the one box and reduced oil to between 1/3 and 1/4 cup (someone had said trying with 1/4 cup so the sugar would not be absorbed so much, so I figured it would be fine) (I also chilled the dough). In any case, the cookies turned out really pretty and yummy. It's good to know that the recipe is so forgiving. I am going to try with red velvet and white chocolate chips next....yumm! Thank you.
