    Beautiful Ham

As turkey is traditional for Thanksgiving, so ham is traditional for Christmas dinner menus.
A Christmas ham or Yule ham is a traditional ham dish associated with modern Christmas. Most of these Christmas hams are baked and served with some sort of glaze to impart extra flavor and sweetness to the outside of the ham. It is this salty-sweet combination that is so appealing about holiday ham. Glaze recipes abound in family traditions, in cookbooks and magazines and on the Internet. Choose the glaze with the flavors you most enjoy.

i want to second Moist Spiral Cut Ham With Pineapple Honey Glaze - this is a Cook's Illustrated/America's Test Kitchen technique for cooking a spiral sliced ham and making sure it does not dry out.

I used a different glaze, Cherry-Port Glaze (Cook's Illustrated) , but the ham turned out so nice and moist - plus the cooking time was reduced because the ham was warmed up to begin with.

I love the spiral cut hams and have tried several different glazes. Pineapple with the ham is just a classic combination and always goes over well, but my favorite is usually a brown sugar crusted ham. I'm still working on perfecting a recipe that is a copycat of the ones cooked and sold hot at the Fred Meyer (Kroger) meat counter. I'm not usually one to stop for taste-tests, but that ham gets me every time! icon_lol.gif

I have never tried the spiral cut but was always intrigued; nest time I will take the leap.
