Sugar Free Crock Pot Apple Butter
After you cook the recipe and fill the jars do they have to be refrigerated? I want to give them as gifts and wanted to make sure how long they can be room temp? Once they are opened, how long will they last in the refrigerator?
Thanks!

It will most definitely need to be refrigerated or frozen. Without processing in a boiling water bath the filled jars will not be shelf-stable, even if they appear to have sealed. I'd recommend using it up within a couple of weeks, maybe a month, as it has no sugar to act as a preservative. Leaving it unrefrigerated for a day or so would be fine, though. Make sure your recipients understand the need for cold storage.
