So we spent today visiting Grandma. Since the ORIGINAL plan was for the contractors to start MONDAY,I'd planned for Jar to be at day care & my office 4 days in a row, so I took today off and took him to my mother's house about an hour an a half away.
My parents have this elderly gray kitty - I think he's about 18 years old. He's kind of an indoor-outdoor cat, and a few years ago, he was "lost" for several months - he'd evidently really gotten lost and gone native - he took up residence somewhere outside of town, and the people who found him made sure he was fed, even took him to the vet, and, when they saw one of my mothers (really old) missing flyers, they contacted her.
So Charlie is back home - and he doesn't give a fig for anything. Counters? His. Butter Fair game. Dogs? Bah humbug.
My parents' dogs are cool with Charlie. They don't bother him and he pretty much goes where he wants and does what he pleases. If a dog steps out of line, he just gives them a look and they stop whatever they're doing.
So obviously, Charlie had no issues with The Jar (unlike certain other kitties who shall remain nameless) - Jar saw him just sitting there on the chair, and he stopped. The cat looked at Jar, and Jar was very confused. The cat didn't run away! The cat didn't do anything except maybe yawn!
So gradually Jar moved close to the cat. The cat gave him the old stink-eye, which Jar didn't recognized, since, you know, it wasn't accompanied by the hissing and running away that he's used to from OUR cat.
So. . . Jar stuck his big, slobbery snout RIGHT ON THE CAT!
The cat smacked him in the nose.
After that, Jar was afraid to walk past him.
Until we were getting ready to leave, and Jar went and touched him again!
