    Can you make this recipe without the pistachio nuts? My father in law is allergic and I'm trying to avoid this ingredient.

    Sure. You can substitute some more dried fruit; the problem is, it won't be "Christmas" colors. The only dried or candied fruit I can think of that's green would be citron, and many people don't care for it.
