Steve, are you doing close-ups of small portions of food on small dishes? I have been studying the proportions on the plates. For example, one small mushroom takes up a good deal of space on one of your photos. I need to follow your example. I learn so much by looking closely at your photos.

    Couple of meals.
First one was a lunch yesterday at The Troll Tavern in Helen GA during a trout fishing trip.

Then tonight my sweet wife fixed country style ribs in Coca Cola and ketchup.

Mmm Paymaster both meals look delicious!

Love the texture and height the rye bread brings in the first photo and you were very smart to surround the salad with the red of those tasty ribs and green of the lima beans yummy.gif one of my favs.

I taught school near Helen, Ga. 32 years ago. I remember that it was a lovely place. Those vegetables looked good. I love coca-cola BBQ sauce.

Paymaster, I'm headed to Grayling, Michigan on Monday for 4 days of trout fishing on the AuSable River. Love the comfort food and the Mom & Pop places along the way on fishing trips. Taking my QRP ham radio gear as well for the evenings.

Here's breakfast and dinner from yesterday; cheese omelet with hot sauce, and "Fall off the Bone" ribs for dinner.

    ok another recap...

beef salad for work... you might notice the sun has been with us on and off, so the meals are getting lighter....

    cottage pie

pick and mix salad with scotch egg

    pork steaks

same pork steaks used in a rice salad for work

gammon and potatoes... (wasn't really a lot in, ended up with this)

    ribeye and salad

due to a shift change, granddad had to look after some of his grandchildren icon_smile.gif so they arrived early doors and wanted breakfast.. poached egg and toast, with hot chocolate

later had them making vegetable soup

Fathers day... other half had to work, so made myself a light breakfast... thats bread from a small loaf, grilled bacon and poached egg

I then set about making a "buffet" for everyone to come around to later... and Son in Law had been baking, something he just decided to have a go at

    the buffet food

next day some leftover buffet for lunch

    Chinese meal in the making

chowmein with a side of pak choi with chilli and soy

    and some leftovers for bait

    ham salad

now this was a treat.. had some beef strips that needed using. Had intended them to be a stew or something along that line, but needed using up and wouldn't have time the day after. So fried them off, added garlic and chilli, some veg and rice.. made a really tasty baitbox meal

sausage needed using up,but the hot weather didn't really lend itself to sausage and mash... so had them with salad

what was left of the sausage with some boiled eggs and a bit of salad in the baitbox (yeah I thought it was weird too)

both of us got in from work, both hungry and wanted something quick... tin of oxtail soup with a potato and meat pie in it ! icon_smile.gif

there you go, back up to date...

    chicken and chorizo chilli

cheese toast gone wild.. smoked sausage, boiled egg and tomatoes

Wellll, Steve, I've just scrolled through your amazing meals and snacks. I cannot possibly remember each one by the time I answer, but your photos are mostly really excellent. I love the one with the two little girls!! icon_lol.gif

Earlier you asked, in jest, I suppose: "Doesn't everyone take photos of their food?"

My answer is: NO! You have great patience ... food gets cold while it's been photographed!! Often I think: shall I take a photo of this food? And then the camera is upstairs in my dressing room, and I think of the lighting battle (it's dark early and we do eat dinner at night). And that's that.

I plan to make beef fillet tonight. No doubt it will look nice on a plate, but it's winter here, and by 6pm it's already pitch dark and then I only have the kitchen lights ... (Excuses, excuses!) And please, I don't want cooled fillet on what's going to be a freezing night! icon_wink.gif icon_redface.gif
