    Steve -- fantastic.

Honestly, the quality of the photos posted to this forum (all, including yours) have in my humble opinion, and NOT due to me or Deb, have improved immeasurably in the last year.

I suppose you saw Wildflour's shots?

I cannot do that. I can't duplicate what you posted here. It's too good. (I'm still after an extra light -- DH promised he'll look for the right lightbulb at the electric stores, but I still won't be able to do it as well).

I'm often amazed at what people manage, like Wildflour with her fairly old Canon Rebel.

You guys are great! icon_lol.gif icon_biggrin.gif

In the March Sticky some great photos were also posted -- really good.

And it's always nice to see a newbie or two trying. It's usually hesitant and uncertain when they start, but with encouragement they usually improve fast. Pity about all the excellent photographers who do NOT post in this forum -- when I have time I check out the latest photos posted. (On the Home Page is a link).

The photography here is stunning. And so is the food! Mr. Steve, you've inspired me to work at achieving better photographs. My basic skill now is point and shoot, lol.

This is one of my better shots although the plating is messy. I'm fairly new at all this. It has recently become a hobby of sorts. This is turkey andouille gumbo served with basmati rice and garnished with filé and Louisiana hot sauce.

    Dear chicken_feets (what a name! icon_lol.gif )

    The photo is great!

Please keep on taking photos! Maybe you'd like to read the Sticky about "Our Archives". Better people than me have posted there long ago about "How to ... " Excellent advice in there. icon_cool.gif

You are SOOO welcome to this forum! Keep on posting -- you are already good -- just think what you can achieve over time!!

Oh, sorry -- I meant to add -- you'd be surprised at how many fantastic photographers use "point and shoot"!!

IF you have a fancier camera, get to know it, and read up about settings. It takes time. (I do NOT know my camera yet and may never really know all it can do icon_sad.gif ).

Thank you, Zurie, for such a kind and lovely response. I hoped not to be too forward by posting here among all these beautiful shots.

I have a very old Nikon Coolpix 2500 with 3x zoom and 2.0 mega pixels. I am just beginning to play around with arrangement and lighting. I also thought about a tripod for the camera itself to get around my shaky hands.

I hope to be able to contribute in the future. Thank you again for the warm welcome.

Who doesn't like cornbread? This is Emeril's Kicked Up Cornbread from Food Network. I kick it up a bit more with additional heat. "Some like it hot!"

Something that makes me crazy is to see folks paring down artichokes to their hearts and discarding all the good leaves! If you kept the leaves, steam until soft and make a tasty dipping sauce, you'd understand what I'm talking about. I grew up with stuffed artichokes. I may be able to come up with a recipe later. I sort of eyeball everything. icon_cool.gif

Last one tonight before you get sick of me. Chicken gizzards. Probably my favorite part. Weird, I know. Btw, according to biblical documentation, the chicken came before the egg.

    Fantastic photos Steve!

Love the way you layered the colors and textures on the sandwich and the tuna with rice wow. You were singing my song with your nibbles though because I could live off that kind of plate twenty four seven.

Welcome Checken feets it is nice to have you join our forum!

Trust me when I say we all learn from each other icon_wink.gif

Your gumbo looks so flavorful and that corn bread is perfect, so have to agree with you when it comes to artichokes as we savor each and every leaf.

Chicken_feets, I love your positive attitude, and there's nothing wrong with your photos -- 2 megapixels, you say?? Incredible. The light on that cornbread is just perfect.

And I'm with you -- love chicken gizzards -- when I can get them! All kinds of "meat bits" used to be available before people became picky! I bet you also like chicken feet! icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif My grandmother always used them (she had her own chickens), and I remember eating them with my hands -- all nice and gluey!! icon_lol.gif

If you make a recipe from this site, DO post your photo in the regular forum -- we love to see new faces!!! wave.gif

What the heck have I been doing? I've not paid attention to THIS forum because I thought (wrongly) that it was pictures of doilies and table clothes. Why is all this food hiding in the NON-FOOD-RELATED forum? There are some great pics here and great ideas for dinners. I'll be coming back here real often.

Almost forgot...welcome, chicken_feets. You are a talented chef and an accomplished photographer. Nice to have you here. You make me drool. icon_eek.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif
