Molasses caramels

Newbie "Fry Cook" Poster

Hi. I am looking for a recipe to make molasses caramels. I remember having them when I was young. See's Candy makes a very good one, but I would like to try & make them myself.

Molasses Candy (ole' fashioned pull taffy)

NEW ORLEANS CARAMELS - Submitted by: CM
2 cups black strap molasses
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup heavy cream
1/4 lb. unsweetened chocolate
4 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Boil all ingredients together until they harden in cold water. Stir in vanilla. Pour into a buttered flat baking dish and cut into small squares when nearly cold.
