Yes, I just updated all my add-ons and plug-ins last week, along with installing the lastest edition of firefox. I'll just have to see if my computer geek husband can sort it out for me. icon_biggrin.gif It's strange that I am running the same program and it causes such havoc.

Thanks to both of you for taking time to try to help. icon_biggrin.gif

PS...Since Thanksgiving is all over the site anyway I still think it would be easier to have food.com just remove the darn thing! It's probably putting off newcomers to the site as well, especially if they don't have an adblock that works.

Add my name to the vote to get that brown stupid bar out of there.

it takes up most of my screen and is simply too annoying to try and read around.

and I'm not going to change around my whole internet setup and browser just because they have a graphic and web page designer who doesn't know what the *$%^^$ they are doing.

Open a recipe ~ the bar will appear at the bottom of your screen! I blocked it!

    Hi Kerfuffle-Upon-Wincle

I noticed in another thread that you have Firefox as well. Since you disabled the banner do you still have use of the search and sifter functions?

    Thanks. icon_smile.gif

Are you having problems with the search and sifter on Firefox? I have been, and it started before I disabled the banner.

    Hi Chocolatl

Yes, I have, however disabling my adblock resolved the problems, but now I can't get rid of that annoying Thanksgiving footer now! It goes away if I put my adblock on but then I lose the search and sifter functions. It's really frustrating because there are loads of advertising for Thanksgiving anyway. I've been going to allrecipes.com since all this. It's too much for my blood pressure to handle..lol

I'm definitely thinking this is at least partially Firefox's problem. I've been getting some weird error messages on another site as well. AdBlock Plus is definitely the problem; I suppose there's an incompatibility issue with the latest Firefox release.

UPDATE: Apparently this is a known issue with some of the AdBlock filters (not the add-on itself). I've sent them a report; hopefully this will be fixed.

I have to say, I totally agree with Charmed. It is ridiculous to have to change your whole internet setup and browser to get rid of that annoying graphic. There are many other recipe sites out there to visit instead of having to put up with this.

Count me in too, regarding that dang banner. I have been on less - (food.com) because I just can't take it. Very distracting.

I did use adblock, however ~ it slows my system down so much.

And they all have ads and graphics, many far, far worse than that footer. (Epicurious is the worst, with the refrigerator springing out across the page with the guy talking at you.) What's ridiculous is that some browsers don't have an adequate adblocker.

But what's bad about THIS ad is that Food.com is advertising itself, and blocking the recipes to do it.

I have forwarded your comments along to the team. Andrew mentioned a possible change to the banner so I'll keep you updated. Thanks for your input!
