of every recipe. Is there any way to get rid of it? I've tried clicking on it, but that doesn't make it go away. I've tried looking for a "cancel" button but can't find one. Really? Why do you need to advertise when we're already here? It's very, very annoying! HOW CAN I GET RID OF IT?

Ditto! Takes up too much of my screen real-estate. I hate it.

If you are talking about the THANKSGIVING JUST GOT EASIER bar, then I don't like it either! I don't give a flip to see Food.com's BEST recipes!

If you have AdBlock, right click the ad, then select Block Image.

Never thought of that. Thanks!

I have Adblock and just don't see it at all.

Open a recipe ~ the bar will appear at the bottom of your screen! I blocked it!

I've opened some today, but will try again and report back.

GACK! I didn't see that big brown intrusion this morning. I agree, it needs to go away and not be a regular "feature". We get more and more advertising here. I suppose we'll be told that's the price of free "membership", but I never bought a membership and there was very little advertising I saw back then. Ads were much smaller and easier to ignore.

I have ad block plus, but when I turn it on to avoid the Thanksgiving footnote banner it also blocks the search function! Is there a way to just block the banner alone?
Thanks.

I'm not quite sure what you mean about turning it on. I am able to search without any problems in Firefox. When you right-click on the banner, go to the very last choice, which was Adblock: block image - something like that, I don't remember exactly.

Hi duonyte
I do have Firefox and a while ago I had problems staying logged in, the search function and recipe sifter not working. I was advised to turn off (disable) my adblock (by going to tools and selecting adblock/disable at food.com), which I did and then everything worked again.
When I right click to disable the banner I only get the option to re-enable adblock on food.com which when I do that it takes away my search function and also the recipe sifter as well.
Maybe because I have adblock plus?

Hi Kerfuffle-Upon-Wincle
I noticed in another thread that you have Firefox as well. Since you disabled the banner do you still have use of the search and sifter functions?
Thanks.

Yes, I can still search and use the sifter ~ I think when blocking the bar I selected the button beside something about CUSTOM.

I have adblockplus and it has not affected searching or anything else on Firefox. Are your Java and Flash up to date? You might want to uninstall AdblockPlus and then reinstall it and see if that resets everything.
