Interested in trying new vegetarian, vegan or raw recipes? Interested in receiving some reviews? Then please join us for a stress free, fun monthly recipe swap!
 Sign up here, leaving your name and a link to your vegetarian/vegan/raw cookbooks. PLEASE also leave your cookbook numbers if this is your first time signing up, or if you've changed your cookbook.
 Here's how it works. . .each chef will choose another participating chef and tag 2 of his/her recipes. There will be NO assigned teams and you don't have to specify vegetarian, vegan or raw. The choice of chefs will be done on a first come, first serve basis and each chef can only be chosen once. However, you can recipenap any other chefs recipes whenever you want!
 In addition, we will have a surprise Veggie Chef of the Month. This chef will be chosen randomly and all participants go back in the hat again this month for a fresh start in 2012!. Each participating chef will make one of the VIP's recipes. The Veggie Chef of the Month will be the VIP for the month getting a whole bunch of reviews; he/she will not participate in the swap the same way as the others (choosing a partner and then being chosen), but he/she can recipenap other chefs recipes.
 November's Veggie Chef of the Month will be chosen from all who have signed up as of 5pm EST on Friday 11/02.
The swap will officially start on Saturday, 11/03 at 10 am EST.
If you have questions or suggestions, please send a zmail to the swap hosts, Katzen or Lalaloula.
*****This is a fun way to meet fellow members and promote your recipes!! *****
Here is a quick guide about what ingredients are considered vegetarian or vegan by vegetarians and vegans. As in many other facets of life, there are some variations. So, for the purposes of this game,
Vegetarian = lacto-ovo vegetarian
beef, pork, poultry, fish, gelatin =
milk, butter, yogurt, eggs, honey =
fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, legumes =
Vegan = strict vegan
beef, pork, poultry, fish, gelatin =
milk, butter, yogurt, eggs, honey =
fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, legumes =
Raw food = (as I understand it from my reading)
beef, pork, poultry, fish, gelatin =
milk, butter, yogurt, eggs =
cooked fruits, veggies, nuts, legumes, and grains =
raw fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, sprouted legumes, and sprouted grains =
raw honey =  (for some)
Come join in the fun and sign up today! Find some fresh and healthy recipes while eating in Veggie style!!! Remember, you need not be vegetarian/vegan to join us - just interested in making a few dishes that are meat free (and yes, this includes beverages, desserts, non-food recipes, etc.!!!) Everyone is welcome!

You're all signed up - except Sharon, we'll wait for you on sign up day.
WICC - Not sure if cranberry sauce is something your family loves, but oh, boy, is Ginger Cranberry Sauce ever a wonderful sauce - not like those yucky canned ones that stay in the shape of a can when you dump them out! A stuffed squash like Comprehensively Stuffed Squash -- a Moosewood Recipe
would be lovely, too, substituting margerine for butter, and vegan cheese for the cheddar. There are some optional ingredients my Mom adds listed; leave out the ovo-lacto ones, but I'd add the pumpkin seeds and apples - not only are they seasonal, but yummy additions!
It's really interesting for me being vegetarian for meals with my bf's family... they just baffled for what to cook for me for family dinners. For Canadian Thanksgiving last month, there were two kinds of cabbage rolls - one had meat, but the other didn't, they said. Well, except for the bacon on top, but that doesn't count, right?

Those are great suggestions Katzen! Both look like perfect Thanksgiving additions. And I'm a whiz at veganizing. In fact, I just bought a new cookbook called Artisan Vegan Cheeses (or something like that) and it is AMAZING! I'll have to post some of the recipes here, but if anyone is even slightly interested I highly recommend buying the cookbook.
And I had to laugh about your "bacon doesn't count, does it?" comment. I've heard that so many times about various ingredients. It was funny because just on Monday I brought in some (vegan) cookies and the admin assistant said. "It's too bad you can't eat them, they are so good!" So I asked why I couldn't eat them and she said because they have eggs and butter in them. Was she ever astonished to find out that they didn't. It was just so incomprehensible to her that it made everyone laugh. So I'm sure your new family will soon realize that there are a million delicious things without meat too. We are all trapped in paragdigms about something so you can't blame them too much, but what fun you'll have as you amaze them with your culinary skills!

Hey hey everyone,
 I must apologise, I was busy writing a 5 hour exam on Saturday and since I had seen that Kat had posted the sign up, I just assumed she would take care of posting the official swap thread, too. Of course, I should have asked if she had the time, but I didnt. Ladies, Im sorry, Ill use this morning to set up the thread and get things in order. I hope youll return and tag away as you should have been able to do on Saturday.
Loula (who wears sackcloth and ashes right now -- do you really say it like that or is my translation programm wrong?)
