    Help! Possible baking catastrophe!

    I am making an Easy Lemon Pound cake recipe (
    and 10 minutes after I put the batter in the oven to cook (325 F), I realize I forgot to add the 1/2 c of milk. Should I take it out, add the milk, mix it and put it back in the oven and start the time over? Or should I completely discard it and start all over?

    Please help! I don't want my family to get sick :/

    I have already taken it out and added the milk. I put it back in to bake for 50 minutes. But I just want to make sure that I don't get anyone sick. I have doubts but I dont want to waste food. I will discard it in a second if it is not healthy to eat. Please help!

    Don't worry, there is no reason that it would be unsafe to eat. Your main concerns will be how the texture turns out, which may be less than perfect but still certainly edible. I will be curious to hear how it does turn out!

    Thanks for all of your posts! I ended up taking it out after 10 minutes, adding the milk, mixing it all again, and put it back in a clean, newly-buttered pan. It turned out great! I was super nervous about it being dense but it is already half way gone. I added a powdered sugar/lemon juice icing over the top as soon as it got out of the oven. Definitely a recipe I will make again! Hopefully I rememeber to add all of the ingredients next time.
