    Bacon donuts

    Sat Oct 13, 2012 10:05 am Groupie
We just found a bakery that sells maple and bacon covered donuts. The donuts were in a display case. We forgot to ask about storing them. Considering they have bacon pieces sprinkled on top, should these be refrigerated rather than leaving them at room temp. overnight?

I think they'd be ok overnight. Refrigerating would dry them out. But be sure to eat them promptly - a sacrifice, I know icon_biggrin.gif I would refrigerate after that.

Bacon is a cured meat, so I think you are safe. Once it is cooked to the crisp stage I think it is kind of like jerky and wouldn't spoil at room temp.
