I can understand the old members' feelings and I don't blame them.

It all boils down to the fact that the rules for the contest are not written properly, for whatever reasons. So let's not yell at each other. It's only a small contest, not a $10,000 contest.

This seem like an interesting and complicated site, it will take a newbie like me a long time to navigate and get to know everyone.

I agree with 1 Steve - stick around, seems this contest stirred up a lot of hard feelings, but it will be over and there are lots of great recipes and people you have yet to find! As for the one star, I hate it when people don't leave comments, maybe they left something out? Personally if they don't leave a comment I ignore the review - good or bad.

And there is actually is a tag game where the focus is to find recipes with low ratings and try and re-make them to see if it was a user error. If it was, the new higher rating will help offset the lower one. Check out the Cooking Games with Friends and look for the Bargain Basement tag game. Recipes need to be either reviewed with a rating of 3 stars or under or recipes which have been posted over 1 year or more and do not have any reviews. These potentially great recipes have been "marked down" - either they have a flaw that needs tweaking, been overlooked, or they are seemingly good recipes that maybe deserve a second chance."

I was shocked to see and read this thread. I have played Susie D's RSC many times, and in fact was delighted to actually be a winner several games ago. I heard about the RSC game for cash, and was tempted. But due to life getting in the way, never played it. Now I am glad I didn't.

From an outsider who hasn't played the new RSC...it sure appears to have brought more negativity to the Web Site than I have seen in a long time.

I will stick to playing those contests and games where the primary focus is the fun, camaraderie and perhaps a small gift if you should be chosen for creating one of the best new recipes. The real joy in winning is just knowing you did it and that you made a lot of new friends. When I won, my gift was a Recipezaar mug...which I still have. Am I upset that since that time the gifts have increased in value? Absolutely not!

One of the most popular games is just ending and has no declared winner. It is called PAC (Pick A Chef), and it's purpose is to encourage new chefs and others to post more recipes and receive reviews on those recipes. It is a lot of fun. You make a lot of wonderful friends. PAC is played in the spring and in the fall.

If you feel you haven't been treated fairly, come to one of the other games and events which go on continually. You will find friendly, helpful p people of all ages all over the world.

Just browsing in the games forum and saw this thread. I am new here, too. Well, almost three years.
My word, if your recipe is getting low ratings it has nothing whatsoever to do with older members voting for each other I wouldn't think. Perhaps it was posted wrong, an ingredient left out accidentally, who knows. This site is great, the people are wonderful. I have made many great friends since joining. Don't be so hurt, no harm would be intentionally done to anyone here.
I wish I knew the recipe, I'll give it a whirl!
