I would hate to tell you change someone’s recipe, but think potato chips with just a smidgen of onion powder would work.

Pat, the french fried onion rings diner used are these http://www.frenchs.com/products/french-fried-onions they are crunchy like potato chips. My best guess knowing what a small can looks like is that it is about two cups.

Actually we have an onion and sour cream flavoured chip/crisp on the market which may do.
