I am tired of paying the high price for cleaning supplies. Recently, I bought a box of Twenty Mule Team Borax. It is a great cleaner. Do you have any cleaning solution recipes? I know that amonia and vinigar make great solutions and neither cost very much at all and I can supply the 99% water that is in most commerical products. Thanks, Tim

Thanks Tink. I've saved all your recipes. I've used the oven rack cleaner many times and it really works.

You're welcome, Connie!
I'm always trying new ones, but these ones are the ones I keep going back to.

I've used a lot of the cleaning recipes here and really liked them but one I found recently has to be one of my all time favs - it's Cheap Homemade Furniture Polish and when I tried it had great results - now the expensive spray can in my closets just sits there while I use this.
The only issue I had was the first time it cleaned so well; that it left a film (from the old spray) that had to be rubbed off - now it just shines and even DH commented on how nice the furniture looke and he NEVER notices those things. (But then again, maybe he was just happy I wasn't buying the expensive stuff )

Thanks, Bonnie! I'll have to try that one too. I almost don't remember what it was like to have nice wood furniture in the house. I though having a boy was bad, but having a little girl who loves nail polish, makeup, glitter and stickers has turned out to be detrimental to my wood tables.

Thanks Bonnie. I'm going to try the furniture polish. We all are going to save so much money we won't know what to do with it. Oh yeah - pay the expensive vet bills for my furbabies.

Yes, I know how those vet bills can get, but not only do these safe money - I've found most of them work better than store bought.
And Tink, I thought when my kids grew up my furniture would be safe; however that's not the facts as the grandkids have now come along and I find myself just smiling and thinking "how cute" when they do something on the furniture, so it's still in a state of disrepair and who cares

omg. grandkids? My own kids are so far apart it already feels like my 6 year old DD is my grandkid... but she never goes home...
I guess I'll drown my sorrows in a batch of this furniture polish, and resign myself to having shiny, if dented, scratched, bleached and water damaged furniture.

Oh yeah, Tink - it just gets better all the time. But hey; that's what HOMES are for - living; anyone can have a HOUSE. But it takes a family (with all the dents and scratches) to have a home.

Ohh, you're so right, Bon-Bon. DD & I have been playing hours and hours worth of Clue (the board game) these past 3 days. This morning she'll get to show off her skills with daddy too.
Those dents and scratches can wait a while longer.

Enjoy her while you can Tink. They grow up way too fast.

That is so true, I look at my grandkids now and wonder how mine got to be parents so fast. That said, being Grandparents is the most exciting and fun thing that's ever happened to me.
And YES Tink, treasure each and every one of those nicks and scratches and remember how much fun they were when made.

*sigh* Don't I know it.
DS (almost 20 now) is having the first of 3 surgeries this morning and I cannot even tell you how happy I was when he texted yesterday morning that he was just going to come home and spend the night so I didn't have to pick him up this morning. It was SO nice to have the family all together again. DH took DD to the zoo in the morning to feed the giraffes and then when they got home DS had arrived and we spent the day playing Clue, DS played video games with DD (6), we had dinner, which just happened to be one of those comfort food, handed down through the family recipes.
DS grew up and flew off before I knew it. But of course, I'll kill him if he makes me a grammy before DD is at least in high school!
