What are your favorite recipes for those times when you can ONLY cook from what is on hand in your pantry/storage?

    Great topic, UC!

We had something similar in Canning not so long ago as a companion piece to Organizing Your Pantry: Cooking From The Pantry (link)

I'd love to know what everybody's favorite pantry meals are.

I can recommend to help find great recipes. Most of the suggestions lead right back to this site. icon_smile.gif

    GREAT links, Molly! icon_biggrin.gif

I've been so far out of canning the last few years, due to work, that my canning pantry looks sad and pathetic...I SO want to get back into it. I KNOW how to can...water-bath, pressure...and dehydrate...and freeze (though for long-term, I prefer canning)...but I just haven't had the time (work) or, at times, energy (physical health). I miss it so much, though! And so does my pantry!!! icon_razz.gif

Gonna have to cruise those links, tho'... icon_biggrin.gif

My pantry is fairly well stocked as I live in a rural area. My supplies would last awhile with few changes other than fresh produce and milk. That said, the following recipes are things I'd turn to.

Crispy Salmon Cakes With Lemon- Caper Mayonnaise by Gayla J has become my go to recipe for a can of salmon. I serve it with Cilantro-Lime Tartar Sauce
Emaw's Goulash by riffraff is closest to my mom's standby. I now use Papa D’s Goulash by Papa D. Both turn a few canned items into a comfort meal.
Ramen Noodle Egg Foo Yung by Potscrubber takes ramen noodles and turnes them into a welcome meal. I throw in a handful of frozen mixed veggies or whatever is on hand.
Kheema by pammyowl is a recent discovery.
Frijoles Borrachitos-Beans with Beer by PanNan and Pinto Beans With Sausage and Ham by GrandmaG both start with dry beans,
