We have been leaving the screen door open all day and shutting the door at night so everybody can get used to each other. There has been some hissing and spitting and Nittany generally causing hate and discontent but for the most part, it hasn't been too bad. I started leaving the door open all night too. Seems to only be one spat a night. ANYWAY Josie has gotten a little more adventurous. On different days she has left the room and checked out the bathroom, the play room, came in my room and is currently under my DD#2's bed in her room. She still freaks out about the other cats but we are making tiny little baby steps. The rest of the cats could care less where she goes, it's still just Nittany.

I was wondering how that was all going. Good to hear that Josie is coming out of her shell a bit more.
    Thanks for the update!

So glad to hear Josie is doing better. She must be feeling a little more secure.

My DD lost a cat she had had for a number of years. Her other cat really missed the one so my DD adopted a cat from her vet's office. At first they wouldn't have anything to do with each other and DD's first cat tried to keep the new cat from the litter box and the food. They still aren't best buddoes. but at least tolerate each other now.

I was thinking about you and your cat situation the other day - thanks for the update!

You know, we brought our Jarly home over 4 years ago, and our cat is STILL PO'ed about it. She's only in the past few months started hanging around in the "common areas" of the house - before that, she spent the better part of the day in the basement, only coming out when the dog was either out on a walk or upstairs sleeping.

Holy crap in the morning!!!!!!!! I took Josie out of DD#2's room yesterday (out from under the bed) b/c there's no litter box or food & water in there and I don't want to move it and put her back in DD#1's room. I went up a couple of hours later and checked in there and to what did my wondering eyes did appear??? Josie was sleeping peacefully at the head of the bed and......... one of my other cats, Raja was sleeping peacefully at the bottom of the bed!!!! icon_eek.gif They were both on the bed TOGETHER!!!! icon_eek.gif Granted they weren't anywhere near each other but still!!!! icon_eek.gif oh and Pooka was sleeping on the floor. I couldn't believe my eyes! I had to take a picture of it! LOL
Of course, this morning Nittany went in and did her usual 5 AM mess with Josie trick. icon_evil.gif icon_rolleyes.gif
So it seems that everything is peaceful except ,of course, for Nittany

Patience has won out - except for Nittany who apparently still must display that SHE is THE boss.... but eventually that should get better too..... WTG... good for you and the fur-kids!

It actually has gotten better with Nittany since we had been leaving the door open. She is only going in 1-3 times a day to mess with Josie instead of CONSTANTLY climbing and digging at the screen door. and when she does go in and mess with her it is a short thing and then they are done instead of a prolonged hissing spitting fest. It sounds worse than it is (I think). it's usually all over by the time I get up the stairs. It's like Nittany has to go in and "remind" Josie that SHE is the boss and Josie had best not forget it!! icon_rolleyes.gif

Way cool that the other cats have excepted her and that she )Josie) is comfortable with them.
Can you threaten Nittany with reform school? It always worked for us kids. icon_smile.gif

Josie has decided that she likes my other DD's bedroom better and has moved herself into it! I finally just moved her food, water and litter box in there too instead of taking her back to DD#1's room. She seems very content in there and Nittany hardly bothers her at all in there. I think she was lonely b/c DD says she is very snuggly (I never thought THAT would happen!) and sleeps right tight up against her at night. I just wish that DD would keep her darn room cleaned up!!
