    Survival Seed Vault

The concept of a survival seed vault has become more widespread over the last several years. More and more families are gaining food independence by growing non-hybrid vegetable seeds.

The health benefits of non-gmo seeds are more widely known now than in years past, and people are taking a stand against high super market prices.

But then disaster strikes, and you have to ask yourself some questions:

icon_arrow.gif Can I feed my family from the garden if I have to?

icon_arrow.gif Do I have the right kind of seeds for my region? Can I save the seeds from my harvest to plant the following year?

You can do a little research for what varieties do best in your area and get seeds from reputable suppliers (some seed vendors specialize in particular areas of the country). You can learn lot about gardening by reading seed catalogs. The online versions of seed company catalogs are quick and easy to use. Plus, they tend to be more up-to-date.

Raise your hand if you have put together an emergency seed vault and please feel free to share a personal story or add a comment. icon_smile.gif

I want one. While I'm a grocery addict, the impetus within my brain pan is leading me ever closer to not being so. In my current situation, I could probably plant, but it isn't my land. When I have that, I want heirloom. Not the lifeless pablum they sell us at the store from wherever.
